Hello and welcome to the last day of summer school! I can’t believe how quickly the past week went! We hope you enjoyed all of the inspiration and ideas that our amazing teachers shared all week! There were so many great ideas of fun ways to use the new Teacher’s Pet collection! I can’t wait to make lunchbox notes and teachers cards this year!

Before we say goodbye to another year of summer school, we have one more amazing teacher with us today. Please welcome Mrs. Debby Hughes to the class to share an awesome school themed project with you!

Hi, Debby here and so excited to be joining you today for Summer School! I’m delighted that my youngest son will have a male teacher for the coming school year so I wanted to give today’s project a masculine edge. The new Hey Teacher stamp set and Teacher dies were just perfect for keeping things clean and simple – just like the guys like, right?

The main focus of the card is a blackboard created using the new Frames dies from the recent This is The Life release. The Frames dies cut a centerpiece and also a great little frame edge too. I cut the smallest frame in the set from Khaki and Black card and white heat embossed the ‘World’s Best’ from Hey Teacher before giving it the chalkboard look with some Unicorn ink. The ruler from the Hey Teacher set is stamped in Memento tuxedo black, Copic colored and trimmed out and acts as a base for the fabulous Teacher die-cut, which was cut from Lipstick Red card. The Frames dies came into their own again to cut two patterned paper pieces to mat to the Khaki card base.

To accompany the card, I made two more frames and added one to a ruled Moleskine notebook and the other to a humorous book on children’s silly written mistakes (Blackboard Blunders). I must admit that the blackboard cover of this book drew me to it but it is also a fun read.

I can’t believe that the schools here go back in little over a week so I better crack on with all those jobs that need doing before then and getting the school uniform up to date is top of the list; I’m sure the summer sun makes them grow a few inches each year! Have fun and enjoy what’s left of your summer although if you are like me then secretly you look forward to the new school year and all those brand new jotters and cute stationary!

I actually made a video of my project, gasp I know LOL. I really should make more videos and I’m glad that for today I managed to get my act in gear. ;)

Summer School wouldn’t be complete without the chance to win some crafty school supplies, right!?

  2. Adorable set! My best friend and I made giant Crayola crayons, a yellow pencil and a sheet of paper. I don’t remember why but they were pretty cool. The crayons were about 4.5″ tall, the pencil 6.5″ and the paper… well, you can imagine.

  3. Favorite school memory was always the first day of school. Brand new clothes, shoes and school supplies. I loved it.

  4. One of my favorite school memories was when we had a year long project of recreating ‘pioneer’ school- about once a month, we would go to a local camp for the day, and have school in the cabins there, wearing sunbonnets and long dresses, using slates, and everything! What a fun school year that was!

  5. You make such beautiful cards and do a fabulous job demonstrating the products. Would love to win these supplies!

  6. My favorite memories from school definitely would be sports. Breaking records, winning championships and being a total girly jock was the best! Don’t let the nail polish fool you ;)

  7. My favorite memory from school was always the first day. As a teacher, it still is my all time favorite day.

  8. I love the label you created with the blackboard and how you mounted the word teacher onto the ruler image. Great card!

  9. Such a fun teachers card and gift. This year my daughter has her first male teacher and we was so surprised. She’s had nothing but women teachers up till new. I remember going into high school and having two male teachers. Times have change.

  10. A favorite memory of school is my 4th grade teacher…. Kept in touch with her through the years and she’s met my kids!

  11. Cool to be in school! Awesome projects Debby! My fondest memory is my Maths teacher – amazing teacher and was like a mum to all the students. Consequently I love maths.

  12. Great cards. And a design which will work well for male cards in general. My favourite memories of school are the excitement of learning new things. Particularly of the world around around us.

  13. Debby, this is wonderful! Your child’s teacher will love this and will feel very special for the start of the new school year! Thanks for your idea and inspiration!
One of my favorite memories in school is when my favorite English teacher had all of us girls over at her home for a sleepover. She made popcorn as we watched a movie in the evening, then she made waffles the following morning! That was the very first time I ever tasted waffles! Thanks SSS for the opportunity to win this prize package!

  14. I LOVE these!
My favorite part about teaching school is that I’m now in my 36th year of “maternity leave” and it is STILL working for me! rofl!

  15. GREAT your teacher card and the labels for the notebook and book! Thx for the video and the chance to win the prize pkg. :)

  16. Love the card! My son – in – law is a teacher, this will be be a great set to use for fun cards and projects for him. One of my favorite memories was our first day of typing class. Yes, I said typing. We all rushed into classed trying to get assigned to one of very limited electric typewriters. I ended with a manual. It turned out okay, when I left high school, I could type 120 wpm.

  17. Hello, one of my favorite memories was my Spanish teacher in PR who help me learn Spanish when i was in 5th grade. i would go to her home for extra lessons. Talk about really caring for her students.

  18. I was just telling my grand daughter this story… I had a really wonderful teacher in grade 4. Loved her so much that, at home, I called my mom Mrs. VanderVeen, and, at school I called the teacher Mom! She followed me for three more years, changing grades as I did!

  21. This was such a great idea – love all these projects for going back to school. This one is exceptional – love the look of the chalkboard with the ruler and the word die and the paper tucked in behind as a background. This would work well with either female or male teachers. WOW!!

  22. Great project – wonderful gift collection for any teacher. A favorite memory from my school days was the anticipation for the “bell” to ring at the end of the last day of the school year! Can you tell I wasn’t the ideal student? LOL

  23. Awesome project and video! I often see SSS tutorial videos and want to order one or two things afterward. I’m ordering everything Debby’s used on her project! 27. These cards are seriously cute. What I loved about school was the friendships and the many, many memories from them.

  28. One of my favorite memories was going to summer school in between 5th & 6th grades because it was with many other 6th graders from other elementary schools. I got to meet kids that I’d later go to high school with plus we had really fun classes, like batik art.
    Love this teacher card!

  29. My favorite grade school memory, was a male teacher I had in the 5th grade. He did an excellent job of bringing all of us shy students out of our shells that year. I will always be grateful to him for that. LOVED your card and video.
