Hello and welcome to the last day of summer school! I can’t believe how quickly the past week went! We hope you enjoyed all of the inspiration and ideas that our amazing teachers shared all week! There were so many great ideas of fun ways to use the new Teacher’s Pet collection! I can’t wait to make lunchbox notes and teachers cards this year!

Before we say goodbye to another year of summer school, we have one more amazing teacher with us today. Please welcome Mrs. Debby Hughes to the class to share an awesome school themed project with you!

Hi, Debby here and so excited to be joining you today for Summer School! I’m delighted that my youngest son will have a male teacher for the coming school year so I wanted to give today’s project a masculine edge. The new Hey Teacher stamp set and Teacher dies were just perfect for keeping things clean and simple – just like the guys like, right?

The main focus of the card is a blackboard created using the new Frames dies from the recent This is The Life release. The Frames dies cut a centerpiece and also a great little frame edge too. I cut the smallest frame in the set from Khaki and Black card and white heat embossed the ‘World’s Best’ from Hey Teacher before giving it the chalkboard look with some Unicorn ink. The ruler from the Hey Teacher set is stamped in Memento tuxedo black, Copic colored and trimmed out and acts as a base for the fabulous Teacher die-cut, which was cut from Lipstick Red card. The Frames dies came into their own again to cut two patterned paper pieces to mat to the Khaki card base.

To accompany the card, I made two more frames and added one to a ruled Moleskine notebook and the other to a humorous book on children’s silly written mistakes (Blackboard Blunders). I must admit that the blackboard cover of this book drew me to it but it is also a fun read.

I can’t believe that the schools here go back in little over a week so I better crack on with all those jobs that need doing before then and getting the school uniform up to date is top of the list; I’m sure the summer sun makes them grow a few inches each year! Have fun and enjoy what’s left of your summer although if you are like me then secretly you look forward to the new school year and all those brand new jotters and cute stationary!

I actually made a video of my project, gasp I know LOL. I really should make more videos and I’m glad that for today I managed to get my act in gear. ;)

Summer School wouldn’t be complete without the chance to win some crafty school supplies, right!?

Supplies

  1. Live Debby’s masculine card and book set with the chalkboards, so clever! Oh…and so glad she had a video to go along with it :)! One of my favorite memories from school was when we had spirit week and each class had to sing a song and dress the parts! My class did YMCA and I was the Indian…so funny! We had a great time!

  2. My favourite memory from school was the back-to-school shopping we did every August. I always got some new clothes, but more significantly I always got a package of new colouring crayons and markers. The possibilities!!

  3. One of my favorite memories from my school days were the years spent singing in my elementary school chorus…I can still remember our after school rehearsals and the annual concert series we held at various hotels during the holiday season!

  4. Such a clever design and wonderfully masculine, too. Thanks for the video, Debby!! Your step by step is always very easy to follow.

  5. Love the special touches that Debbie used with her masterpieces. Favorite memory: being selected a cheerleader for my High School after trying out for a couple of years! I finally made it! Hooray!

  6. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much Debbie for this!!! My daughter will have a male teacher for the first time this year. So, this tutorial was very helpful for me. Thank you so much.

  7. Great project! My favorite memory from school was being chosen to read to younger students. I felt so proud of my reading ability and enjoyed reading aloud!

  8. my favorite memory is tutoring the younger students. It was great to be looked up to but even neater to be able to help someone understand something they didn’t before.

  9. One of my favorite memories from the school is the back to school shopping. It was soooo nice to buy colors, erasers, the school bag, books etc, etc :):)

  10. Back to school was all about the colours and the smells – new pencil case filled with surprises, paper, notebooks and new runners in there somewhere. The colours take me back to those days – I can feel the colours and smell all of that wonderful cardstock and ink! Love it.

  11. One of my favorite memories was graduating from 8th grade. My father made it home safely after 14 months in Vietnam and was able to attentd

  12. LOVE that skinny frame, but would never have known how to mount it without Debbie’s wonderful Washi tape idea. As for favorite memories from school, I came out of my shell with Modern Dance in the last two years of high school and even won some trophies during our annual competitions. Good times for sure . . .

  13. I hope Debby’s son’s teacher is worthy of her great projects. ;-) Whenever I think of back-to-school, my first thought is always getting the school supply list at the store and getting new supplies, taking them home, spreading them out on the floor over and over, the anticipation of returning to school rising more every time I took them out and put them away. All 7 kids in my family did the same thing, so there were some years when it was quite a mess.

  14. My favorite memory is when a boy in my 6th grade class wore a tie to school one day to impress me–we became friends for years.

  15. I really enjoyed being on the drill team, flag twirlers, and cheer. Friday nite football was always so fun with friends as we always cheered for the home team. Great High School memories.

  16. loved 1st grade! my older brother sold milk and would sneak me a quarter so I could buy an ice cream!!!! best school day memories!!!!

  17. Like many others, my favorite memories of school involve going shopping. I loved getting new clothes and spent days figuring out which outfit to wear the first day.

  18. Fantastic card! I have so many fond memeories of school! I had some wonderful teachers, I loved hanging out with my friends and being carefree.

  19. I’ll never forget Mr. May. He made music come alive for us. All those percussion instruments. Kudos to all those who sacrifice to teach. Thanks so much.

  20. Debby’s project will be such a nice gift for her son’s teacher! One of my favorite memories was being one of a group of 8th grade girls who ran the “Candy Room.” We sold candy every day at lunch time to all the other students.

  21. My favorite memories or high school were taking part in the musicals! Sound of Music, Guys and Dolls, and Cinderella! Lots of work, laughter, tears, and good times!

  22. Love Debbie’s projects! TFS
I absolutely love school, so much so that I became a teacher! Thanks for the chance

  23. So many wonderful memories from school. 5th grade was special as my neighbor was my teacher. What a special year!

  24. My favorite memories of school were times spent with my girlfriends! Playground games and art classes together! Thanks!!

  25. How lovely to see a card made for a male teacher! Your card is fabulous Debby and your videos are always great to watch. Thankyou. :) A favourite memory I have is of being in the school choir, we always had such a blast – the teachers were fun and friends were made from all different year levels. Good times.

  26. I remember loving my second grade teacher. Thought she was great. Love Debby’s masculine card and the little chalkboard. Thanks for the chance to win!

  27. Good memories were all the times we kids would work together to get things done! I was in a club that fund raised and put on a project for the school as well. Really tough but we always worked through it together! That made it fun!

  28. Wow, this is my favorite card/project of the week. I love the blackboard die cut along with the bright red teacher word. The card is just totally construced and well planned perfectly.
