DIY Decoration Idea for Jars!

Happy Sunday to you all! It’s Shari here with a DIY project that helps me feel a little better about my addiction to cold coffee drinks! To start off, I’ve added layers of book text in all directions to cover the entire bottle.

Then to diffuse and to create texture, I’ve added wrinkled up tissue paper. I’ve used my twine to wrap the top of the bottle which gives it a finished edge.

And finally I used some Prima Flowers to decorate. I have a video for you of the process below or you can view it on our YouTube channel.

Thanks for coming by today, I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  1. I have a box of these bottles and wondered how to embellish them.
didn’t want to do the same thing I’d done with the other box of bottles (decorated for Christmas)
This is a great idea. the colors of the twine and flowers could be changed along with the seasons. thanks for sharing.

  2. they’re super cute and much as the light votives i am also going to make these, thanks for the inspiration, i’ve done tissue with modge podge on jars etc but never embellished them, sure makes a difference

  3. What a Sweet project! I just love the look of the tissue paper on top. Another have to try project for me.

  4. My daughters also have that addiction! They, however, didn’t try to hide their addiction when using the bottles as vases. I much prefer the look of yours. :) (Don’t tell them I said that.)

  5. Pretty. Great idea. I need to take your tip and do something productive with all of the cold coffe drinks bottles I’ve emptied (besides recycling them in the bin).

  6. Really cute! Looks very summery. I love projects with printed book pages.
I freeze a pot full of strong coffee into ice cubes and store them in a freezer bag. I add them to a strong blender with skim milk and then sugar or sweetener to taste. Starbucks uses xanthan gum to keep it from separating but it doesn’t sit around long enough to separate once I’ve made one. No need to leave the house and I can have one whenever I like.
My mum drank cold black coffee on ice when I was growing up. She didn’t like tea.

  7. Hi Alicia! If you do the whole bottle in twine, it does take some time. But just an inch or so only took a few minutes. :)

  8. I save jars that I think has a beautiful shape, or it speaks to me, so I am always looking for ways to repurpose them. Love your project ans thanks for giving me an idea.

  9. This is really great! I love the natural colors and the speckled black flower. So cute. I have made a few things similar but with mason jars!!!!!

  10. Lovely project, great recycling, and when fresh flowers aren’t readily available, the vase would look nice with handmade flowers! I’ll bet Shari could show us how to do that, too! :) (Hint)
