Autumn Thanks!

Hi everyone…Happy Monday! It’s Shari here with a card inspiration using some Ranger products.

I went off the rails and tried something completely different. I used several layers of painted tissue papers to build up an interesting background.

Shari Carroll AUTUMN THANKS 3

This technique is very easy to do and a great way to learn to use the Gelli Plate. I found it really relaxing. It all starts off with some Dina Wakley paints, Tim Holtz Layering stencils, and tissue paper.

Shari Carroll Autumn Thanks D1

I could see myself creating an art journal page like this too! I’ve shot a video of the process, hope you find it easy to follow.

  1. Well, it is just a matter of time until I finally try using the Gelli plate…you make it look like easy fun! Admire your sense of color, too.

  2. I love my Gelli plate but haven’t used it since my original class, this has inspired me to clear off my table so I can play with my Gelli plate soon. Maybe this weekend. Thanks for all the inspiration Shari!

  3. Wow…. this is superb – I really love to have this and make some good cards – Thank you ever so much for showing this.
I already subscribe to your blog

    Kind regards
    Mariane

  4. What a great idea using tissue paper with sprays and paints! The results are stunning! And that 3×5 gelli plate is a cute and perfect size!

  5. Thanks for a great tutorial. I love the small size Gelli Plate . It will be much easier to work with especially traveling.

  6. I love it when you go “off the rails”! It reminds me of the Ferdinand the Bull children’s story. I think I’ll join you smelling the flowers in the field…

  7. This is a fantastic collage technique! I just got this small sized Gelli Plate and I can’t wait to use it. I’ve used the larger (mid-size) one for a couple of years and the smaller format will be really fun for ATCs and cards. Thanks so much for such great inspiration!

  8. I have never used a gelli plate before but notebooks fun! I love watching your videos because your style and take if things is brilliant and something I don’t see all that often. If I may also add…I just got my order of ranger products (reinkers, sprays ect) and if you could pass along a bunch of *high five*’s to everyone in the shipping dept. because they are amazing at packing and shipping product be it paper or glass reinkers! I feel super confident that the items I order won’t come in anything less than perfect condition. Thanks SSS :)

  9. Thanks so much for this awesome video – I’ve had my Gelli Plate for quite sometime but haven’t used it yet. Now I’m anxious to get it out and start trying some of your ideas :-)

  10. An amazing project Shari–I am totally inspired to try it on my own now. Reminds me of art afternoons in grade school with the collage technique. Thanks for that!

  11. It’s different and wow what you did here! Love how patterns and colors mix together in translucent layers, really cool effect. Tfs.

  12. Oh awesome, I had been debating trying tissue thinking it might be similar to deli paper and now you’ve inspired me to try…thank you so much! I love your gorgeous rich work.

  13. Fantastic card! And a very interesting technique! I’m really behind on things, I hadn’t heard of the Gelli plate.
