Challenge: So Glossy
Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge
Thank you for joining us for the Throwback Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.
This week the challenge is
SO GLOSSY
Glossy Accents is a staple favorite in most craft rooms. It is a super strong adhesive and it is fabulous for creating 3D domes and glossy finishes. Of course there are many more products we can use to add a little gloss to our projects, from foiled papers, to glossy texture paste. We will be looking forward to seeing what you use to create a little shine on your projects!
As always Simon Says Stamp will be giving away $50 voucher to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store
Remember to click on the person’s name to see all of the details of how we made these creations and leave these wonderful girls some comment love
Andrea got her gloss on by making some shiny shaker panels as part of her swing tags.
I’m not even sure that “swing tag” is an official term, but I made these tags whose layers pivot on one central brad. And subject matter? I figure you can’t ever start too early with the holly jolly goodness. These tags feature products from some fabulous new collections, namely Simple Stories’ Claus and Co and October Afternoon’s Under the Tree.
Anna-Karin loves to stamp on glossy cardstock.
Glossy cardstock has been one of my favourite surfaces ever since I started stamping and this week I made three different winter cards using three lovely scenic stamps by Penny Black. The images were stamped on glossy cardstock with Archival Ink and colored with Distress Inks. These cards came together quickly and I am glad to have some of my Christmas cards ready.
Barbara has used this challenge to prepare the packages and cards for Christmas!
During Christmas time I love glossy look! I used new Tim’s stamps “Plaid & Nordic” with Embossing powder clear, so I have created a shiny effect, tone on tone for my packaging, cut with Pillow box die! I chose stencil Snowflakes and Stampendous “Shabby white” for the card , this powder is ultra glossy with golden interference! I’m definitely in the Christmas mood!!!!
Cheiron used glossy paper to create her colorful card.
I love glossy paper and I don’t use it enough. I used a rainbow of Alcohol Inks on this piece of Ranger Glossy Paper. I used Tim’s Handwritten Wish die and and Handwritten Sentiments stamp to create my big, bold greeting.
Emma created a piece of Christmas home decor that shines like a diamond!
As my mind turns to Christmas, I chose to create a burlap panel home decor project using one of my favourite techniques which captures plenty of gloss and shine. I applied Transparent Texture Paste through the Festive Layering stencil onto a background of gloss card and alcohol inks before adding Tattered Poinsettias and sparkly Holiday Greens as my finishing touch.
Maura is feeling the chill of winter this week up in her neck of the woods.
It’s starting to get cold here which has me thinking of winter. I pulled out my new Simon dies Lined Trees and Happy Winter to make my card. These are part of the Simon Create Joy winter releases, and I am loving them! Diamond Glaze makes the perfect glossy accent for my trees.
Meihsia created a glossy mixed media wall hanging for her art studio.
I was inspired to create this 5″ X 7″ mixed media canvas with the Crackle Paint on the background first, and pasted some Tim Holtz Sizzix Die cut embellishments on it using Faber-Castell Glaze. After distressing the canvas with Distress Paint, I covered the canvas and all the embellishments with Faber-Castell Glaze for a beautiful sheen and protecting the surface.
Michelle used just a touch of glass to make her project shine.
I love the new Merry & Bright Stamp and Die Set from Hero Arts. It has versatile sentiments and is easy to watercolor with my Zig Kuretake set. A touch of Glossy Accents adds a little shine. Sometimes that’s all you need!
Sandra went all glossy with her card
I love the Transparent Gloss Texture Paste. It gives it such a fun texture and effect. I’ve applied it on the glossy paper background I inked up with some colors of Alcohol Inks. As I didn’t want to loose the colorful background I stamped with the circle stamp of Trust the Magic stamp set on a transparent sheet with StazOn.
Suzz gilded her art this week with glossy accents and Stampendous Gold Halo Glitter.
I had a vision of angel wings dipped in gold and there is no better way to achieve that than glossy accents. The wings were cut from a mass of feathers using feather dies. I accented everything with a lovely gold sheen using the Tsukineko Gold Gliz Ink. This will be a lovely addition to my Christmas tree this year.
So now it’s YOUR turn to get out your inks, paints and all things arty and start creating! We are looking forward to seeing what you make!

Such a great challenge – thank you for the inspiration!
I LOVE all the fun creations by the DT members. My glossiness was only on the headlamps on my car, which made for a great finishing touch. Blessings!
