The Grillfather

Hi readers! We’re back with an awesome tutorial from the one and only amazing Copic color-er, Sandy Allnock! I’m amazed at her skills with each and every video & tutorial! If you’re an expert or a beginner, Sandy has graciously provided 3 options of getting some cool smoke effects for your Grill father!

Enjoy!

I always love making cards for guys – I’m not much for flowers and butterflies but give me a shot at something funny for guys and I get all kinds of happy! The line of Everyday Hero stamps from Art Impressions are right up my alley! Fun to color, they make you laugh – and there are lots of options to have fun with them!

In the video, I promised you’d have the color list to color dad himself, so here you go:

And here’s another look at the crazy smoke options!

I don’t know if your Father’s Day will require a call to 911 or a run in the house for the fire extinguisher – but whatever you’re up to, make it a great day! Leave me a comment below and let me know what your dad’s favorite thing to do is (or was) on his day!

  1. Thanks so much for this video! Love this stamp but have wondered how to do the smoke–Thank you again. Love your work as always.

  2. Even my 7 year old daughter thought that was really funny. Love the chimes in the background. Not quite up to trying copics yet but will one day. Thanks for the tutorial!

  3. Super fun video! I loved that you were grillin’ and colorin’ at the same time. The birds were chirpin’ and the wind chimes were ringin’…all around good fun. I am in absolute AWE of the coloring technique you shared here. I have to give it a try. I loved the end result and that touch of yellow on the image was the perfect finishing touch for the GrillFather.

I like my steaks medium well and my GrillFather gets it right almost all the time. *wink*

Thanks for sharing your talent with us and I look forward to your 4th of July special.

    Craft On!

  4. This card is so funny! Love the coloring and the tutorial on coloring a smoky fire! My dad was a master on the grill. Everything was well done.

  5. Wow, you are the best with the Copic Markers. You are defintely the best that I have ever seen.

  6. OMG this is just nothing short of AMAZING. Sandy is my idol….who knew I would have so much fun working to be a great color-er my whole life?!

  7. I am using the same image for my ” grill father” but water coloring it. Great smoke and fire!

  8. That is the funniest stamp I have ever seen , it’s perfect for my SIL. I got some tips for coloring too. I already follow by email.

  9. My dad now just appreciates a phone call on the BIG DAY, as well as a personalized, hand-made card, of course. My husband used to love when our boys made him breakfast in bed (carrying up a tray of toasted freezer waffles and o.j…) and the inevitable hand-made gifts. We still have the tissue-paper covered stone door stop our son Nate made, way back when… Love Sandy’s tutorials!

  10. Sandy is always great – such a good teacher, so talented, and so funny! Love this stamp set – just right for this time of year.
