Summer School with Nichol Magouirk
Hello and welcome to day 3 of Summer School!
Today we’re sharing a card created by Nichol Magouirk using lots of products from the new Teacher’s Pet release! This card would be great for men and women teachers and features some awesome products and techniques!
The black embossing paste over the black cardstock is perfect for some great texture without being too obvious. And like yesterday’s card by Shari, Nichol chose to have the the Teacher die-cut be the punch of color on the card.
The layered tags and mix of stars on the background, pull this card together and make it that much more special! Those little details don’t seem like a lot, but they really make the card!

My daughter goes back to school September 2nd. I also return to school for my second year to go into a new career.
I thought Nichol’s card was so clever. I loved the stripes showing through the vellum, and how it went with the bakers twine. Liked all the texture. My grand kids start school on August 25th. I never had to start school until after Labor Day. In Texas, August is still too hot for the kids to be in school, IMHO.
My boys will be going back to school Aug 25th.
My kids go back the last week in August & my hubby that teaches goes back a few days before then. Summer’s coming to an end way too quick; so we’re trying to squeeze in as much as possible these last few days!
The black is spectacular! My grandsons start school tomorrow. When I was in school we started after Labor Day. But the older I became, the earlier school started. By the time I was a senior we were starting in mid August!
My daughter starts back on Sept 2…. But they get out if school middle of June. She only has 2 years and then off to collage. :)

LOVE this! My son is still too little for school (hooray!) but my nieces started on Monday.. and I’m pretty sure we went back about mid-August when I was a kid! Thanks for another chance to win!

Our kids go back to school on August 13. I am a teacher and started back last week, and my husband, also a teacher, goes back next week. To me,it signifies the end of summer.
In Australia our kids are in school already. You would think that this means more craft time for me but somehow I never fit much in!?!
Here in Slovenia it’s 1. September. End of summer in many ways :)
We always started somewhere in august, no specific dates each year…

As for school, in Australia, our school year starts late Jan/early Feb, is broken into 4 terms, with holidays held in April, July & September, with the year ending in just before Christmas in December, long holidays over Summer.
I love the color combination black and red, fits both woman and man.
My daughter is back too school august 20th. She is starting the first year in gymnasium. She is so exited to start her 3 years education to be a make up and hairstylist :)
My grandson goes back late in August—we, however, always went back to school after Labor Day. My late husband was a university professor and always began organizing his lecture materials in August to be prepared for a September start date.

When I was in secondary school (in the Netherlands) we would normally start school again somewhere at the beginning of August. Nowadays the country is divided up into 3 regions (North, Middle, South) to spread the holidays. This year, school starts again on 18/08, 25/09 and 01/09, respectively. In the Netherlands, the summer holidays last for 6 weeks.
Here in Greece, the summer holidays last for 10 weeks and school will start again on 01/09.
My youngest is a senior in high school this year – how did that happen? We live in a county that always starts the Monday before Labor Day. This year, that is August 25th.
Love the layered black on black. School starts here (New England) Aug. 25 for kids, but since I’m a teacher, prep has already begun. When I was a kid, school started the day after Labor Day (I grew up in the Pacific NW). Thanks for the chance to win.

Love the black on black. I used to go back to school in September in England. It makes me smile to remember the evening before, cleaning shoes and laying out clothes (uniform). I loved getting my pencil case ready too!
My kids are out of school but when I was a child, I went to a Catholic school and we always went back after labor day!
In college, we started the week before Labor Day, and then actually had class still ON Labor Day.
We always returned to school (and University) the day after Labour day (and they still do it that way here in NL, Canada)
I live on Long Island in New York and our schools do not have air conditioning so we go back the day after Labor Day. And it’s usually hot!
my boys are grown so no more first day of school. If I remember correctly here in CT. we went back to school right after labor day.

One of my boys goes back to school on 8/20, while another starts 9/4. The other one is all done – yay! And I LOVE the black embossing paste – need to get some of that!
There are so many great techniques that Nichol shares in her card! My son has finished school now, but we always start after Labour Day. I can’t imagine starting before the end of August – July and August are our warmest months of the year, usually!
Another fab card. Thanks. In New Zealand (like Australia) we go back to school after the summer break – at the end of January. As a kid it always felt too early as there was a lot of the summer left.
Great card! My grad kids start school on August 20th. As a kid living in NY we used to start school right after Labor day.
Two kids off to college Aug 23rd and The rest will start on Aug 25th…

Great card !!! What a fabulous week of inspiration so far :) :) … Many, many (and a few more manys LOL) years ago, when I was in school, we started the week after Labour Day weekend. Now, for some odd reason, the kids have to go back the week before for a day or two :)

i went to school in england and we would start school on the first full week of september, schools here only finished for the summer 2 weeks ago, my other half is a teacher and would love to recieve these from his kids :)
In Australia, our kids go back to school at the end of January/early February after our Summer holidays.

Great card and I love that it can be used for a female or a male!! The children in my county started back this week…August 4th. I retired from the school system as I bookkeeper, and I would have started back a couple of weeks prior to the children starting. When I went to school, it was always after Labor Day. And with children already back in school, it sorta makes you think it is fall already, UNTIL you step outside. The Georgia heat and humidity hits you!!
