Spring Daisies Mixed Media Card

Hi friends! Happy Thursday! I hope you’re having a great week so far! Please join me in welcoming back special guest Cheiron Brandon to the blog with this gorgeous Daisy mixed media card! Read on to learn all of the details, and enjoy!

Hi there crafty friends! It’s Cheiron Brandon and I am thrilled to be back on the Simon Says Stamp Blog today to share a fun spring card with you.

I don’t know about you but where I live everything is coming into bloom and I can’t wait for some spring flowers. Today I have a card using one of my all-time favorite Tim Holtz Sizzix Flower die sets using Distress Watercolor Pencils to give them some easy coloring and shading.

To begin, I cut a watercolor cardstock panel and stamped it with different elements from the Eccentric stamp set using Black Soot Archival Distress Ink. Then I added color by adding Distress Mica Stain in Shiny Bauble and Distress Spray Stain in Salvaged Patina. It looked a little plain to me so I added a bit more stamping using the Ledger Script stamps. I dried the panel with a heat tool and added splatter using Sterling Foundry Wax, Black Soot Distress Paint and Picket Fence Distress Paint. For additional texture, I added some Translucent Distress Crackle Paste to the edges.

Now that the panel is done, it is time to paint the flowers. I cut the flowers from Distress Watercolor cardstock and colored them with my Distress Watercolor Pencils by using a Detailer Waterbrush. I picked up the pigment from the tip of the pencil and painting it onto the die cuts. I added some shading to the parts of the flower that were white to make them pop and once everything was dry I added some more of the darker colors of pigment on top to add shading.

To complete my card, I roughed up the edges with the Tonic Paper Distresser and then inked them with Black Soot Distress Ink. I added the flowers with some foam tape and overlapped them to add interest. Finally, I added a stamped sentiment from the Noteworthy stamp set that I embossed in white onto Distress Black Heavystock.

I hope you enjoyed creating this spring card today, and will try coloring in your die cuts with Distress Watercolor Pencils for lots of shading and dimension.
