Slimline Large Stems Silhouette
Hi friends! Happy Sunday! Please join me in welcoming back special guest Cheiron Brandon to our blog! Keep reading for all the details of the colorful fun card design, and enjoy!
Hi there crafty friends. It’s Cheiron Brandon here with a fun Slimline card using Tim Holtz Bigz dies. For this card, I used the Sizzix Large stems dies as the background and also as the focal part of my card.
To start I cut several of the Sizzix Large Stems from Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I created dimensional pieces out of the Large Stems by gluing two of each of the stems together with Distress Collage Medium. Once the stems were glued together, I arranged them and adhered them onto a 3 1/4 x 8 1/4 panel of Distress Watercolor Cardstock with Distress Collage Medium.
Then I sprayed Distress Spray Stains in Kitsch Flamingo, Mermaid Lagoon and Evergreen Bough and dried them with a heat tool. Once the panel was dry, I splattered Distress Paint in Picket Fence and Black Soot over the panel. I inked the panel with Black Soot Distress Ink. I cut two more of the Large Stems from black cardstock and glued them together with Distress Medium and then adhered the piece to my card. Finally, I stamped the sentiment from the Stampers Anonymous Observations set in Black Soot Archival Distress Ink and adhered it to the card with foam tape. I love the texture and dimension that the stems in the the background give to the finished piece.
To complete my Slimline card, I adhered the panel with foam tape to a 3 1/2 x 8 1/2 notecard. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and will try making some textured backgrounds with die cuts for yourself.
