Hi readers! Happy Saturday! How is your weekend going so far? I’m so pleased to have our pal Teri Anderson back on the blog with a bright pop of color blocking inspiration for the blog today! She’s using some of her fun new stamp designs from Technique Tuesday that include Rah Rah, I Like You, & Darn Good Day to make these fun cards.

Enjoy!

Hi, everyone!
Teri here, and I’m happy to be here again. Thanks for inviting me back, Simon friends!

I brought a few cards to share with you today that I made with the new Rah Rah Sentiments stamp set.

This is one of a couple of new stamp sets I designed for Technique Tuesday that are available here at Simon Says Stamp! If you you look at this set and my I Like You and Darn Good Day sets, you’ll see I’ve been including lots of words in my recent stamp sets.

I am a card maker first and foremost. And I love a good sentiment that I can just stamp on a card and be done. But it’s sometimes nice to “sauce” things up a bit.

So I came up with some fun little sentiment banners that pack a little bit of punch when put on card..
They are pretty easy to make. Simply stamp a sentiment on a piece of cardstock. Add a little bit vellum underneath. Be sure to cut a notch in the vellum so it look a bit like a banner. You want something that looks like these here.

And then use markers, pencils or crayons to color in some of the open parts of the letters. I find less color is more when adding color to stamped sentiments. So I try to limit myself to just coloring in the open spaces of the scripty, handwritten words.

On the Sizzle card at the top of the post I just flipped my card horizontally and changed out the paper sizes.

Thanks so much for reading today and thanks to Teri for being our guest!

  1. Love these sentiments, Teri, and your very colorful cards! You are never afraid of color! That’s super! I need to be better about combining bright colors like you do! TFS!

  2. Beautiful cards here from Teri, and I love the bright colors, she´s used. That´s something we really neeed now after this long cold and dark and greay winter here, so this is such a wonderful and colorful input to another grey and rainy day here today.

  3. I love these new Technique Tuesday stamps and the colors in the cards are so cute!

  4. To be honest these stamps are not my piece of cake. I’m more fan of stamps like ‘you are such a sweetheart (with a little chocolate heart)’ or ‘I waf you this much (with a dog holding a heart). But the cards look great! :) A nice way to use up your scraps to!

  5. To be honest, these stamps are not my piece of cake. I’m more fan of stamps like ‘you are such a sweetheart (with a little chocolate heart)’ or ‘I waf you this much (with a dog holding a heart). But the cards look great! :) A nice way to use up your scraps to! I will try this :)

  6. I never think to just use cardstock – I have so much patterned paper!!! However, I love the clean, bold look. The sentiments are a hoot – I’m off to look!

  7. On my way out the door but I had to say I love the vellum cut at an angle that way! And the colors are just delish!

  8. Wow – this style is gorgeous! Love the layout and how you used the vellum! Fabulous inspiration – both cards – thank you! I may have to CAS this style!!!

  9. I love this idea of making up sentiment banners to have them on hand when you need a quick card. Or to make a card set where the sentiments are the main focus. Thanks for the inspiration!

  10. Love the colors. So bright and cheerful. The sentiments are perfect to make a clean and simple card. Thank you for showing us how to use up our scrapes of paper

  11. Cute cards and the sentiments are oh, so very clever. Love the blocks of color.

  12. Teri is another of my heros/heroines! Love her irreverence in design and now these fun little sentiments. The color-blocked cards are the perfect background for these little shout-outs.

  13. I love the shape cut out of vellum, very different from how I’ve used it. I love it. And I love the bright colours inside the sentiment, such a nice contrast with the black. Cute cards :)
