Nuts About You!

Happy Saturday, everyone!  If you’re anything like me, you instantly smiled when you saw this adorable card by the super talented Jess Larsen. How cute are these wide eyed squirrels?  Jess tells a little bit more about her inspiration behind making the card and explains how to make it in her video below.

Enjoy!

I just love the layered look on a card front, so I was thrilled when Simon came out with a set of Postage Edge dies with their last release! I just knew I had to try them out on today’s card.  First, I began by die-cutting the three smaller dies in the set. I chose some triangle patterned paper from the Finnley 6×6 paper pack by Glitz.  Then I also cut some Neenah Environmental Kraft cardstock, as well as Neenah Solar White cardstock.

Next, I stamped the adorable squirrel from the new Hero Arts set Missing You.  I decided I wanted a couple of squirrels who would be in love, so I “mirror stamped” one to create two squirrels facing each other.  This technique is really easy and allows you to get a ton of play out of stamps you already own! Check out the video for all of the details!

  1. Jess: Fabulous card. Love the mirror technique. I have tried stamping directly on an acrylic block, but the result was less than satisfactory. Nuts about cute squirrel images. Cheers!

  2. I love following your blog, but you make me want to have everything, ie postage stamp dies. I am totally in love with them – love how they were used on this card. Thank you for showing us how to mirror image stamps. That is the great thing about blogs – you get to learn so much from home.

  3. What a great technique for this card! I adore the sentiment – it’s so very true!

Fabulous coloring and super fun card design overall! Thanks so much for sharing!

  4. Those squirrels are adorable! And I’d forgotten all about mirror stamping–thanks for the reminder. I’m going to try that out again this weekend. Anne, yourmainestamper

  5. So glad Jess made a video on the Mirror Stamping technique. I’ve been wondering how to do this! Thanks for the fresh ideas I get from the Simon Says blog! Keeps us old stampers involved!

  7. Adorable card! Love the sentiment, although today I’m feeling like “I’m nuts” would suffice (too much stress)! :) Thank you for sharing your creative ideas. =^..^=
