Moon Masking
Good morning! This is Jennifer Rzasa, and today I am sharing a card using some fun Altenew stamps! I started by creating an A2 sized card base from Neenah Solar White cardstock. I love using the heavier weight for card bases- it’s so sturdy! Next, I stamped one of the moon layers from To the Moon onto a Post-It Note and cut it out to create a mask. You could use any masking paper you have on hand for this. Once the masked was adhered to my card, I went in with three different colors of Distress Ink to create a night sky: Salty Ocean, Stormy Sky, and Black Soot. I applied the lightest color around the moon to hint at a light glow.
Once the background was inked and the mask removed, I stamped the moon’s base layer with silver ink. I wish you could see in the photo- the shimmer is gorgeous! The second layer was stamped in Soft Granite ink, and the final layer in Charcoal. The three layers of this unique stamp set create so much depth on the moon for a realistic look!
I then made sure to let the card base dry completely before starting the next step. I didn’t want any embossing powder to stick where it didn’t belong! I used Versafine ink to stamp a branch and flowers from the Vintage Flowers stamp set, and sprinkled on some clear embossing powder while it was still wet. Versafine is great for embossing because it doesn’t dry right away. Plus, you get some nice, crisp images!
To finish the card, I adhered a strip of black cardstock along the left side, as well as the sentiment stamped onto white cardstock- both adhered with foam tape. I love how this card is dark and masculine, yet the flowers add a bit of softness and femininity. I also created a coordinating envelope with the Envelope Punch Board, stamped with one of the moon images in grey ink. It’s a quick and easy way to tie the whole project together.
I want to thank you so much for checking out my card, and an extra thanks to Simon Says Stamp for inviting me here today!
