Hero Arts Anniversary Blog Hop – Day 3

Welcome to Day 3 of the Hero Arts 45th Anniversary Blog Hop!!! I’m honored to be a part of this hop and so proud of Hero Arts for their accomplishments!

I’m taking it back old school to shadow stamps and real flowers. Hero Arts released several “From the Vault” images for their anniversary. Theses stamps were some of my favorites to work with.

I stamped this first card using Smoke Ink with the Aged Shadow Stamp and also used the Hero Arts Dandelion die for my focal point. I’ve kept it clean and simple. This is such a quick card to make!

This next card features a technique I developed when I was with Hero Arts called Stamp Layering. I used the “From the Vault” Real Poppy with Butter Bar and Soft Yellow ink on the blossom portion and Field Greens for the stem.

The technique is simple, stamp with the darker inks first and without cleaning the stamp, ink it up with the lighter colors and stamp once more. The residual color from the darker inks stay on the rubber and will mix with the lighter ink giving you fresh new color tone between the two.

  2. These are so pretty. Simple but elegant. I love how the dandelion die only punches some of the petals all the way through.

  3. I think I have to have that dandelion die. Whoever thought of that is genius! Both of these cards are just so pretty.

  4. Beautiful cards! Love the stamp layering idea. Congrats Hero Arts on 45 years of making great stamps!!

  5. Gosh, I loved both of these cards because of the vintage feel they have and you could use almost any color scheme. Thanks for sharing something on the simple side, but very pretty.

  6. happy 45th anniversary Hero Arts! Just a wonder here, so much to do with the stamps. Thanks for sharing.

  7. I used to do this stamping style a long time ago – It is nice to be reminded of the “older” stamps and styles that many of us started with.

  8. Love the cards! The shadow stamp has been on my wish list since I first saw it. Thanks for the ideas!

  9. “Old school” stamping is still awesome! I love those images from the vault and am happy I still have both the shadow stamp and poppy.

  10. Found it! Couldn’t find the place to comment – Shari – these cards are different than any others I’ve seen. Love them! Thank you for showcasing these techniques!

  11. The card with the Dandelion die… so gorgeous!! Sold out as well! All the cards you made with the shadow background are just so lovely.

  12. Very pretty cards with the shadow stamp. Love that muted color scheme! I really like how you used the dandelion die with some of the petals standing up. Great dimension!!

  13. I love the die cut dandelion card! Such a great technique. Glad to see Hero Arts bring back some favorites!
