Hi friends! Please join me in welcoming special guest designer Maria Willis, who is sharing a super fun card showcasing lots of new Hero Arts products! Read on to learn more and enjoy!
Hey everybody! It’s Maria from the Hero Arts Creative team here today and I’m really excited that I get to share some amazing new products from the Hero Arts 2022 Summer Catalog release. This release was focused on Mixed Media art and, in addition to their stamps and stencils, Hero also launched new mixed media mediums including waxes, pearls and a new paste! I’ve included quite a few of these new mediums on my card today so let’s go check it out.
I started with a 4” x 5.25” piece of Luxe White Cardstock and sprayed it with my DIY Reactive Ink sprays (Water Mist Bottle + Water + Ink from Inker). Colors are listed below. Because I added a lot of ink to my spray bottles the colors came out very vibrant. Once my background was dry I started adding my layers. First, I used the Novel Prose Bold Prints stamp and Soft Granite Ink to add some subtle, visual texture. Next, I used the Cobblestone Stencil, the White Hero Wax and a sponge dauber to add some pearlescent sheen. On top of that, I used my palette knife to add Black Hero Wax through the Diamond Stencil. I let the Black Wax dry and then used my finger to gently rub a thin layer of Gold Wax over the top of the Black and to the edges of my background as well. The final step for the background was to splatter it with both White and Gold Glimmer Metallic Inks.
Next, I heat embossed one large and two small dragonflies from the Critter Silhouettes set in gold. I also stamped sentiments from the Art Journal Messages set onto both white and vellum cardstock in Onyx Pigment ink and heat set them with Clear Embossing Powder. I cut the dragonflies out by hand and the sentiments were cut with my paper trimmer. I used my Hero Tools Compact Cutter to cut a vellum circle with my Circle Nesting Dies. After gluing my background piece to a Pitch Black cardbase I then adhered all of the pieces I had cut out to my colorful background using foam tape and glue dots.
The final touch for this card was to add some gorgeous embellishments using my Hero Pearls. I used White, Gold and Pewter Pearls to add details to the dragonflies and the background. I love the metallic finish of the pearls and the extra dimension they can add to a project.
That’s it for today everybody. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you all have an amazing day!~Maria
