Hi Everyone!

I’m very excited and honored to be a guest on the Simon Says Stamp blog today!  Every year I make a special holiday photo card to send out to family and friends, so I thought I would take this guest opportunity to share this year’s card with you.  I really like to make it interactive, and this year is no different.

It’s a waterfall card made from a snowman!  If you pull the tab that says “pull”, the snowman parts flip over to reveal a message underneath.  The final “landing” snowman part has our holiday photo and the pull tab has a personal message.  Here are a few photos in action:

Since I’m making 40 of these cards, I tried to simplify everything.  For example, the background is a stamp with white ink.  Instead, you could heat emboss it with white powder or add some embossing paste with a stencil.

Watch the video for a step-by-step tutorial on how to make the card.  I also included a few card-making tips and tricks, such as Copic blending with 2 markers and aligning your card panels.  Enjoy and Happy Holidays!

Darlene

  1. This is very creative. Thank you for excellent instructions. Lining up the card base with the panel annoys me so your tip of using the Misti to do so is the highlight of the day! I love the background stamp you used.

  2. Fantastic card – who wouldn’t just love getting this one. Kids won’t let Mom attach it to the card display – they will have to have it down and ready to play with for sure. I can see I need that stamp set.

  3. What a super fun card – love it! I love snowmen, I love birdies, this is just perfect! I’m going to watch your video right now …

  4. This is great! My client (I am a Senior Caregiver) mentioned just yesterday that she would love to find some nice photo cards to send to her family and friends. I think I will make one of these and show it to her!

  5. OMG, Darlene. THIS is THE MOST creative card I have seen in some time! Very nice work. I definitely HAD to pin this one. Super C.U.T.E.
My hat is off to YOU! Great idea!

  6. This is sooooo clever! I’m so happy that there are folks like you that think of these creative ideas and share with folks (like me) who tend to be somewhat creatively challenged!!!
