Crafty with Caly: Flora and Fauna
Hi friends! Happy Tuesday! Please join me in welcoming back special guest Caly Person in our bi-monthly Crafty with Caly blog series! Read on to learn more and enjoy!
Hi Friends! This is Caly with you today, sharing a watercolor project using the WPlus9 Flora and Fauna 3 set. It’s a gorgeous 6” x 8” set with two floral arrangements as well as butterflies that I’ll watercolor using Daniel Smith Watercolors.
I stamped my floral arrangement with Antique Linen Distress Ink to do some no-line coloring and the two butterflies using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink and embossed them with clear embossing powder to get a crisp image without smudging/smearing it.

After watercoloring, I splattered my flowers with some white acrylic paint and set it aside to dry while I worked on my background panel. My background is created using another watercolor panel that I watercolor with Pumice Stone Distress Ink and stamped at two opposite corners with the Simon Says Stamp Old Letter and Crackle Background stamps. I stamped these with Antique Linen Distress Ink to give them an old paper-look then added that torn edge using the Tim Holtz Deckle Torn Edge Trimmer.
I heat set my background for quick drying and attached it to a cardbase using foam tape to flatten it out so I could finish my card. I attached my floral arrangement using foam adhesive to give my card lots of dimension.
To give my butterflies some flair, I molded the wings up with my fingers and attached them to my card with a single strip of foam tape under their bodies. I finished by attaching my embossed sentiment strip.
I hope you enjoyed this card! Thanks so much for stopping by today! ~Caly
