Art Journal Feature You Hold My Heart

Hi everyone! It’s Shari here with an art journal page. Before I get started, my first order of business today is to wish all the men folk out there a Happy Father’s Day!

I’ve created a super fun page today… more animated than I usually do. Take a peek. Bright and cheery right?

I’ve used my Dylusions Small Journal since my page is basically flat.  I had a blast with this one, building layers or papers… then adding in shading with Faber Castell Big Brush markers. I found my inspiration on Pinterest, but unfortunately I can’t find the person who created it to give them credit.

I used my stash of papers to create the trees, hills and background. Then I set a couple birds and a hand cut heart in the trees. I finished everything off with some slight doodling with a fine pen around the trees and hills to give them some definition.

I’ve shot a full process video for you, and as usual had to speed it up to fit it in the time allowed. Enjoy!

I have used papers from my stash but have listed several for you below that would work great for this project. Hope you have a great day!

  1. Oh, how I love those journal pages!!! The hand drawn doodling is precious–I need to do more of that.

  2. Always enjoy watching Shari work her magic and this journal page is no exception. The trees and the birds are so creative.

  3. So pretty, Shari. You just brought back my childhood! Remembering what we would do with the wallpaper sample books Mom would get from the hardware when they were replacing the old with new! Thanks for sharing =]

  4. Your art journal page is beautiful! I’ve been thinking of starting an art journal – thank you for the inspiration!

  5. After taking your Create class and realizing I can actually create too….I am off to have some fun. Thank you for inspiring me and so many others.

  6. I am so loving your art journaling pages Shari! You have inspired me to give this a try. Thanks so much for sharing.

  7. What fun, I wonder if I could use any of the old journals I have lying around or if it needs special paper journal to hold up to the inks. I will have to give it a try

  8. Very nice, as usual. I learned that you use multi matte medium as you would Mod Podge. Didn’t know that.
