Love You So Much

Hi friends! Please welcome back the amazing Kelly Rasmussen to our blog today with a dreamy and fun watercolored love card idea! Read on and enjoy!

Hi everyone…I’m so happy to be back as a guest on the Simon Says Stamp Blog! My card today is all about giving some love to your dies! I used four different dies on this card and I think that they ended up working perfectly together.

I started out by die cutting some of the Simon Says Stamp Mini Hearts from masking paper and randomly placing them on a 4″x5.25″ piece of watercolor paper. Then I used some peach and pink watercolors to create the watercolor background. Be careful not to let too much water sit around the edges of the heart masks so it doesn’t seep underneath. Once that was dry I die cut the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circle and mounted the panel to a card base made from Simon Says Stamp Fog Cardstock.

Next, I moved on to the sentiment. I die cut the Hero Arts Love and Die Cut from from both gold glitter paper and white cardstock. Then I adhered them together, creating a drop shadow with the white one behind. This adds some awesome dimension and make the word “love” pop off the card! I stamped the coordinating “you so much” message on a Simon Says Stamp Small Folded Banner Die using Simon Says Stamp Hollyhock Ink. Before I adhered the messages with foam adhesive, I stamped a few of the small heart images from the Love Stamp + Cut set with VersaMark ink in the circle window.

I finished off the card with some gold glitter die cut hearts covered in Glossy Accents. Now, I think I’ll tuck this card away and save it for my hubby on Valentine’s Day.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Studio Monday with Nina-Marie: Snowglobe Shakers + Newton’s Nook Designs

Studio Monday with Nina-Marie: Snowglobe Shaker using Newton's Nook Sweater Weather

Happy Monday crafty friends! It’s Nina-Marie here with you today, and I will be sharing a cute snowglobe shaker card set that features the Newton’s Nook Design’s Sweater Weather stamp set (and their Vegetable Garden set for the sentiment)!

Because the Sweater Weather stamp set has such a cute winter theme, I thought it would be fun to put the critters in a snow globe. By sprinkling sequins and seed beads from Pretty Pink Posh inside, it really captures the “snowy” feel perfectly! For the snow globe, I used the Lawn Fawn Ready, Set Snow stamp set and Ready, Set, Snow Shaker Add On die set.

I watercolored the images with Zig Clean Color markers and fussy cut them out; however, if you are not a “fussy-cut-person”, there are coordinating dies available for this stamp set. Because I stamped the images onto watercolor paper, I find it very helpful to use the Tim Holtz Mini Snip scissors. These scissors are not only very sharp (perfect for thicker papers), but they also have a small enough point to get around most corners/small areas.

These cards are also a perfect example at how you can pair supplies from different brands or stamp companies to create the exact look you are going for; by doing so, you open a whole big world of creative possibilities! Honestly, you are only limited by your imagination! :)

And if you are new to shaker cards, I want to give you this word of encouragement! Today’s card is a very simple shaker to create and I will be walking you through the steps I took in creating it from start to finish in the video below. I’ll also be sharing some tips on adding the foam tape around a curved area, as with the dome of the snow globe.
