Ye olde backgrounds with May Flaum

I had so many ideas when it came to this challenge. Boots, leather, dusty old west towns, fading sunsets – oh the possibilities of a cowboy riding away…

Ultimately though, I decided I wanted to create a video featuring various techniques for a distressed or aged background. Using tags or plain cardstock as a base, I can play, create, and have all the ‘no pressure’ fun without worrying about messing something up.  So for those who perhaps want to bring a bit of the old into their newest creation – here you go!

Distress stain, ink, and of course Dylusions melted chocolate are some of my favorite tools for this job! Also seen in this video are Tim’s burlap and woodgrain stencils.

After filming this video, I did end up turning one of the backgrounds into a finished tag. If you’d like to see that, it is featured on my blog here.

Join us this week in the challenge! For the full rules, read the “challenge rules” posted in the side-bar here on our blog, and be sure to enter the challenge in the post below this one.

  1. I wish I was going to be home to join in on this with the crd I really wanted to make, but alas, I am going to be off visiting this week.

  2. Hreat to see that I´m not the only one who ends up with just a tiny little workspace… Your backgrounds look great! Great tutorial! Inky gretings, Gerrina
