Challenge: Just A Pinch

newchallenge

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

Thank you for joining us for the Holly Jolly Stamping Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week the challenge is

Just A Pinch

This week we are adding just a pinch of something perfect to give our projects a lovely finishing touch. Whether it is a pinch of glitter or powder, a splatter of ink or glimmer. You could even use the pinch of salt technique to create a beautiful background, the choices are endless! We will be looking forward to seeing what delights you cook up this week!

As always Simon Says Stamp will be giving away $50 voucher to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store

Andrea went with a pinch of Dewey (as in decimal) with her library ephemera cards.

I am an eternal librarian and as such, could not help but go with a pinch of Dewey this week.  And if Melville Dewey and his Dewey Decimal system is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear “Dewey,” then I salute you as a fellow fabulous quirky librarian!  A huge thanks goes out to my crafty friend, Mimi, who sent me this library ephemera to use.  I had so much fun combining it with the Surface Tag Scallop die set and the Surface Tag Starter Kit die set from Waffle Flower.  A library card wouldn’t be complete without some glasses, so I also used the Geek is Chic Glasses die from My Favorite Things.

Anna-Karin made a festive card this week.

I used a pinch of glitter, texture paste, metallic paper, vellum and glittery Deco Sheet on this transparent card. The background is We R Memory Keepers Clearly Posh printed acetate. The card was decorated with die cuts from different surfaces, using Simon Says Stamp Exclusive dies, such as the new Sketch Frame die and the cute Sketch Trees.

Barbara loves this classic palette: kraft, white and a pinch of red!

Red is the traditional Christmas color, but I don’t like to use it in excess, just   a pinch in my works! This week I prepared tag and ATCs for my friends! Simon’s wafer dies Snowflake Block and Mod ornament are so beautiful and perfect to create wonderful and quick cards! I add a pinch of red and a little bit of  Distress Glitter Dust Vintage Platinum and my  wishes for friends are ready!

Cheiron used mostly watercoloring on her card, but added just a pinch of Stickles for the holidays.

This week I wanted to play with the Dina Wakley Scribbly Holiday Birdies set and watercolor it with my Distress Markers. No holiday card is complete to me without a pinch of glitter, so that is just what I added…in the form of Christmas Red Stickles.

Emma‘s card has just the right pinch of sparkle for Christmas!

When it comes to Christmas, I always think a touch of sparkle brings everything to life and creates that hint of magic and with this card, I added just a pinch of the gorgeous Vintage Platinum Glitter Dust from Tim Holtz to highlight the antlers of my Prancing Deer and the tips of my die cut pinecones. As a finishing touch, I also added a little more glitter to a mini glass bottle.

Lols took this challenge with a pinch of salt!

I have been wanting to try the salt technique for some time and never got around to it so this week was the perfect time for me to get those salt crystals out and give it a whirl. I love the subtle bokeh effect background it created. First of all I inked some Watercolor Paper with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, sprinkled it with sea salt and then spritzed with water. Then I just sat back and waited for the magic to happen. When it was dry I brushed away the salt and then splattered some White Ink Spray over the top. A perfect background for my Festive Scribbles Tree don’t you think!

Maura thinks a pinch of gold is just perfect!

It’s time to pull out a brand new stamp set and test it out. I am seeing so many possibilities for my Damask Greetings set. The greetings are all interchangeable which makes it very versatile. Add some lovely distress inks like Picked Raspberry and Carved Pumpkin, sprinkle it with Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine, tie it up with hand dyed ribbon, and I now have cards ready in a pinch.

Meihsia created 5 ATCs with a splatter of Gesso and water mixture.

To celebrate the coming holidays, I made Christmas ATCs for friends this year. The background of these ATCs were colored with Sakura Koi Watercolors. The trees and snowflakes were embossed with Tim Holtz Seasonal Stuff Texture Trades. I created the snow with Modeling Paste, and added a splatter of Gesso and water mixture as the final touch.

Michelle added “Just A Pinch” of weirdness to her art journal this week.

My Dylusions Art Journal has been a bit neglected lately. It’s the perfect place to play when there’s no clear direction that your art is going. Using my Zig Clean Color Markers and lots of odd papers and washi, I created a place to stamp my JOFY Stamp and play with my vintage yearbook.

Sandra added just a pinch of Foil and Brusho in her project

I love adding foil to my projects, and love the distressed look the most. I used the Therm O Web Turquiose for this card. I sanded the edges after I applied the foil, to add to the distressed look even more. I’m also still experimenting with Brusho powder. With a pinch of this powder you come along way, because these are so full of pigments.

Suzz  decided just a pinch of the Simon Says Stamps Sequins was the right touch to finish off her holiday tag.

I have to admit I am addicted to these Moonshine sequins as they come in varying sizes and are translucent.  When I need to accent I can use alcohol inks or Copic markers to die them to the color I want.  They were my just a pinch addition to my holiday tag.  The tag features  the Memory Box Holly Jolly Die and the Penny Black Prestige Die  cut from white cardstock and sponged with a mix of the Tsukineko Delicata Gold Glitz and the Ranger Distress Inks – Antique Linen and Vintage Photo.

So now it’s YOUR turn to get out your inks, paints and all things arty and start creating! We are looking forward to seeing what you make!
