newchallenge

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

Thank you for joining us for the  Stamp-It Challenge and Hop and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This is Ashli‘s  last week with us on the Design Team, Ashli has been with us for a few years and we will be sad to see you go. Nicole has moved on to pastures new too. We would like to wish you both the very best of luck for the future.

This week we are challenging you to

OMBRE

Definition: Ombre is a French word for a color with a shaded tone or varying tones. An example of ombre is a color that fades from dark gray to light gray.

From the popular Hero Arts ink pads to the new Distress DIY ink pads ombre is one trend that is going strong! You can be inspired to use an ink pad, make your own blend of colors, or even go for something monochromatic if you like.

As always Simon Says Stamp will be giving away $50 voucher to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store

Andrea blended some sweet Spring shades for her inspiring Butterfly Girl.

SSS Ombre

I adore this time of year when the leaves are changing, I can whip out my boots, and full sweater weather is in effect!  Even so, I still like to keep a little sense of Spring with me and thought this Butterfly Girl would be just what I needed.  I made her using an adorable stamp from Penny Black called Melle Papillon, the fabulous new Royal Menagerie paper collection from Prima and the Martha Stewart Circle Border Punch Starter Set.

Anna-Karin is very fond of ombre effects.

This week, I made a card using two different Hero Arts Ombre ink pads. The Doily Pattern Background looked wonderful stamped with the Pool to Navy ink pad, and I almost didn’t want to cover up any of the background. The butterflies and sentiments were stamped with the Layering Butterflies set and the edge was die cut with the fun Simon Says Stamp Notebook Edge die.

Ashli put one of her new Hero Arts Ombre pads to work this week…

FallTag1Simon

Using my new Hero Arts Ombre ink pad, I applied ink directly to the background of this fun, fall tag. I then used the same ombre ink to stamp a lovely script onto my wood leaf. Layered up with more goodies, and topped off with some fun doodles… we have a fabulous fall tag!

Barbara loves vivid colors

I love to use different shades of color of the same hue, it is a technique that always gives a good result! For this challenge I chose tones to suit on Halloween. Ephemera pack frightful, Halloween words script and Distress ink pads are my travel mates for this week!

Cheiron gave ombre purple a try!

I love the new Wilted Violet Distress Ink and could not wait to give it a try. I blended it with some Shaded Lilac and Victorian Velvet to make the ombre paper I used the Neat and Tangled Seeing Stars die to cut the stars, and added a big bold ombre sentiment using the Neat and Tangled Bible Journaling stamp set and colored it in with Distress Markers.

Emma‘s birds are just crazy about Halloween!

Ombre

When I thought of ombre ~ I thought of a beautiful night sky and used Distress Stains on watercolour card to create the background for my fun Halloween invite. I stamped and die cut my two little crazy monsters and dressed them up using the Crazy Things stamp set, before adding them to my trick or treat night scene.

Lols used her favorite colours of blue and aqua to make an icy Christmas tag.

Christmas is only 87 days away and this year I intend to have all of my tags made ahead of time, well that is the plan! I used  Stormy Sky, Chipped Sapphire, Broken China and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink Pads to create an ombre effect background and love how it turned out. I might just save this tag and use it for a gift to myself!

Maura  loves this time of year to explore nature.

This is a great time of the year to spend outdoors, whether you are hiking, harvesting your garden, or just enjoying some sunshine and cooler weather. I know season wise, I probably should have chosen fall colors, but I had to go with my favorite – green. Did you know you can make your own custom distress ink pads?  It’s so much fun to create personal blends to stamp with. The Simon Says One with Nature stamp set is a new favorite of mine. Love those trees! I can imagine many ways to play with these. I love Pitt Pens  to add my own doodled element, the sun.

Meihsia was inspired to created a tag with a fall color palette.

Meihsia Liu Simply Paper Crafts Mixed Media Tag Ombre 6001

Fall is officially here. This week, I decided to use the fall color palette to create this tag. After adding the texture on the background with Prima Flowers Texture Paste, I colored the tag with Sakura Koi Watercolors and an Aquash Brush. Some Tim Holtz metal embellishments were adhered to finish off this project.

Michelle created an ombre watercolor background.

Ombre Background Art Journal page with Altenew Stamps

It all started with a watercolor background in my journal. The Zig Kuretake Watercolors were so beautiful that it was hard to cover it up! But I couldn’t let that stop me. Stamped Altenew Painted Flowers made lovely accents for my vintage papers and pieces of Crate Paper Wonder Ephemera.

Sandra is in love with the new DIY custom blend ink pads

What a fun idea to make your own ink pads, and I love the ombre effect. Perfect time to give the DIY ink pad a try. I used the Spun SugarPicked Raspberry and Dusty Concord reinkers. I applied them to the Bubbles stencil and stamped with it. I love the look it gave me!

Suzz  played with her paints to see if she could create her own ombre combinations.

I decided to create some fun backgrounds using a mix of paints with stencils to create backgrounds for a series of ATC’s.   The Stencilgirl Layer Circle Stencil provided a great background to apply paint over.    I used The Crafter’s Workshop Stencil – Mini Specimins as my focal point with Wendy Vecchi Black Embossing Paste to add a layer of texture.   For this ATC I  used the blues and greens but I also dabbled in pinks, yellow and oranges.

So now it’s YOUR turn to get out your inks, paints and all things arty and start creating! We are looking forward to seeing what you make!
