Inspired By An Artist

This doesn’t have to be a famous artist, you can choose to be inspired by a fellow crafter. Whoever it is please let us know in your write up.

The lovely folks over at Simon Says Stamp are generously giving away a FABULOUS $25 voucher to shop at the  Simon Says Stamp Store! All you have to do is take out your crafty supplies, make something following this week’s prompt, and add a link in the Inlinkz at the bottom of this post! It’s Simona’s last week with us in the Designer Spotlight and we would like to say a huge thank you for all of your creations over the past month. It has been a real pleasure to have you along with us :-)

Simona: is inspired by Tim Holtz and created this tag using an Etcetera Mini Tag, She used Distress Collage Medium ‘Vintage‘, Distress Crayons, Distress Embossing Glaze,  Baseboard Dolls, Ephemera Layers, Design Tape and Metal Word Bands.

Anna-Karin: inspired by Lars Lerin and in particular his watercolor nature samplers. She created a nature-themed art journal page using different Simon Says Stamp stamp sets, such as Anna’s Flowers and Beautiful Butterflies.

Barbara: inspired by René Magritte. Barbara always loved Magritte’s painting and she was inspired by two of his most famous artworks to create an Etcetera Mini tag using the fabulous Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous stamp, Watson. It’s absolutely perfect for this challenge! To complete her tag she also used Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Nature’s Wonder stamps set, Idea-ology Backdrops Volume 2, Distress ink pads Speckled Egg and Tumbled Glass, Idea-ology Odds and Ends Embellishments.

Cheiron: inspired by the colorful work of the artist Ellsworth Kelly’s Colors for A Large Wall painting. She created her bright square background easily by cutting the squares using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Stacked Squares Thinlits and various colors of Simon Says Stamp and Lawn Fawn cardstock. She finished her card with a simple CZ Design Swoopy Thank You die and some Studio Katia clear drops.

Kath: inspired by Banksy’s Life Is Beautiful art print, created her own using Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Lady Rose and Worn Text, inked with Black Soot and Barn Door Distress Archival inks, the Bricked Layering Stencil to create a monoprint effect and added Prima flowers coloured with Barn Door Distress Spray Stain

Maura: inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s gorgeous sunflowers, to create her own in the Dina Wakley Media Journal, using Simon Says Stamp’s Sunflower Background stamp, and Daniel Smith Watercolors like Hansa Yellow Medium.

Meihsia: inspired by Finnabair to create a mixed media tag using the portrait from Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Found Relatives and decorated the tag with Tim Holtz Gadget Gears Findings and Sentiments Label Stickers.

Sandra: inspired by Finnabair products to make a colorful card using Metallique Waxes and Opal Magic Paint in Blue Gold and Yellow Pink, using the Cogs andWings, Mechanica, Stars and Moons Moulds

Zoey: inspired by Kandinsky Circles to create her background. She used Tim Holtz Layering Stencil SPLOTCHES and Tim Holtz Layering Stencil RINGER to create a subtle background then with Distress Paint she hand painted some bigger circles. The paper doll duo is perfect and the sentiment is from an old sticker book by Tim Holtz
