Hi there! I hope you’re having a great Saturday so far! I’m so pleased to have the lovely and talented Kelly Rasmussen back as a guest on our blog to share this fun blog idea using some pretty BasicGrey papers, along with some SSS exclusive stamps & dies! I can’t get enough of that pretty seafoam green color featured in the Fresh Cut paper pack. What about you? Kelly will share a few more details below of how she made this card.  Enjoy!

Hi everyone! I’m so excited to be back as a guest on the Simon Says Stamp blog! Today my card features some fabulous products from one of BasicGrey’s newest collections called Fresh Cut. One of my favorite embellishments in the collection are the wood veneer die cuts — I love that they are already colored! For the background I stamped the Tiny Triangles cling stamp with Hero Arts Tide Pool Mid-Tone Shadow Ink and then used a craft knife to cut out a few of the diamond shapes to allow the orange paper to show through.

You might also recognize that I used a couple of great Simon Says Stamp products — the Curved Edge Die and the Banner Sayings clear stamp set. This sentiment is perfect for so many birthday cards I send!

  1. What a fabulous sentiment for wishing someone far away a HB. Love the color combo she used. Those HA Shadow inks are the best and I adore the curved edge die.

  2. Cute card. I love how you cut out some of the diamonds to make it unique. Thanks for the inspiration. :D

  3. Wonderful card Kelly. Love the way you cut some of the patterns out so the other paper would show through.

  4. You’re right, the wood veneers are so cute! I love how you cut out a few little windows from the background stamp, to tie all of the colors together. What a fun card!

  5. I like everything about this card. The curve is a great touch , sentiment is outstanding, & the cutouts take it over the top.

  6. Wonderful Card! I love the idea to cut out a few random diamonds in the background. Your colors scheme and elements are perfect! Thanks for sharing! AJ@queenofmynest

  7. Love how the curved edge die was used on this card and the sentiment is wonderful….I live far from most of my family and there are so many times I could use this. And I love how just a few of the diamonds were cut out.
