Summer School with Laura Bassen

SSS_summerschool_blog_header_2014

Hello and welcome to another day of summer school! Can you believe that we’re already at day 4?!

Today’s teacher is the super talented and funny Laura Bassen! Laura is using the new Lunchbox Notes stamps and dies from the Teacher’s Pet release to create adorable little cards to include in her kids lunches this year! ;)

Lunch-Box-Notes

Rather than just creating flat panel cards, Laura made small, top-folding white cards and then adhered the diecut scalloped square over top. I love the bright colors of cardstock she used for for all of her cards and the great way she embellished each one with different elements from the stamp set. She even made a mini little shaker card! ;)

To make the fun designs stand out even more on her card, Laura used foam adhesive on the focal areas to pop them off the front of her card. Such a great way to add more dimension to these adorable little cards!

To see how Laura created her card, you can watch the video below.

Summer School wouldn’t be complete without the chance to win some crafty school supplies, right!?

  1. What sweet, sweet lil cards. Thank you for the video. My favoutite subject was science. I really found it so interesting.

  2. Been so long ago for me but math and what little we had crafting were my strong points in school. Super cute lunchbox cards. This looks to be a wonderful set to have and will have many uses.

  3. My favorite subject in elementary school was the playground! I loved recess. I must say, my mother never put anything like these notes in my lunch bag. : o

  4. I loved math in elementary school and eventually became a math teacher. Love the Pretty Pink Posh dies! The card is great, Laura!

  5. I loved every subject in school, but math and social studies were my favs!! I was one would have called a “geek” ;)

  6. These lunch box notes are so cute! I just love Laura’s videos, she’s always so upbeat, her videos make me happy. I really, really need these stamps and dies!

  7. Anything Science! I love dissecting everything. Makes sense that I became a nurse.
Laura, your kids are way cute. Plenty of broken hearts when they grow up. <3

  8. Those little cards are adorable! My favorite subjects in school were always the sciences. In fact, so much that I even minored in Chemistry in college :)

  9. Love this Lunchbox Notes stamps and dies, its so fun play with them. I make several for my nephews! I Love encourage them! Thanks Simon!

  10. In grade school my favorite subject was S P E L L I N G ! Today at age 69 I am still a great speller, I always will be. In high school I enjoyed Music. Today I still can’t sing a note! I try. In college I studied Medical Science. Loved every aspect of it especially anatomy. OK Laura, the teeny tiny note cards are adorable and kid approved it seems. I do have a PS here….today’s electronic devices with auto-correct can make one a terrible speller….just sayin’

  11. Love Lauras creations and videos!

My fav subject in school was science.

Thanks Simon Says Stamps for the opportunity to win.

  12. Science was my favorite subject in school!! Knowing how things worked did it for me!! Laura,s cards are so cute!! That shaker card is a must make for me! I totally love this release and can’t wait till the mailman delivers mines. I’ve been harassing my mailman!!

  13. Your kids are adorable–and I like them, love your lunch box notes–so cool! I’ve always been a “reader”–and read pretty much everything I could get my hands on, in the pre-computer days and with only a few channels on the TV. I really loved science, and still have a passion for anatomy–makes sense, I’m in the medical field!

  14. My favorite subjects in school were typing and shorthand. That love transferred into a secretarial career for many years.

  15. How cute! I adore that die!

My favorite subject in school was science! I remember being a little girl and my dad was in nursing school. I would tell him…”Daddy, I will be a scientist someday!” And although I am not working in my field, I have a degree in Forensic Science. So exciting!

  16. Ohhh these little cards are so cute and funny!!! I love them all! My favorite subjet in class was playtime!!!! :) :) No…more seriously I liked so much French and…créative times, especially draw. I cross my fingers to win this wonderful prize. Thank a lot to think about us!

  17. I was never great in school. But then I took typing (geez, that’s telling you how old I am, LOL), I had a blast! I then started taking a steno class and other office classes and that’s what I really enjoyed. My dad passed away when I was 15 and the teachers in that department knew I wasn’t going to be able to go to college so they took me aside and taught me extra things and I also did assignments for the Vice Principal for a semester. During the Spring semester of my Senior year, the head of the department even helped me get a job for the government! Awesome group of ladies. Great job, too! Loved it there. Worked there until I got married and moved out of the area.
