Stretch Your Stamps with Debby Hughes!

Hi bloggers!! Happy FRIDAY to you! I’m always thrilled to have the super clever & talented Debby Hughes as a guest designer on our blog to give us lots of ways to use our Simon Says Stamp exclusive stamps & dies! Without further ado, I’ll let her take it away!

Enjoy!

Hi everyone, Debby here with another look at how to stretch those Simon Exclusive stamps and dies! Have you been following the latest CHA releases, looking for the next trend? One of the shapes I’ve noticed popping up is that of a simple house. I think the shape ties in well with the changing season as we cozy down for autumn and homey pursuits :)

The other day I came across a happy little discovery while cutting some hexagons from scraps of card with the Full Card Hexagons die – an incomplete hexagon (the bottom point chopped off) makes an awesome little die cut house icon! Very pleased with myself LOL I die cut a few houses from Bazzill Card Shoppe colors and took some inspiration from the last Online Card Class (Summer Card Camp 2) and a card featured by Julie Ebersole to make this little scene.

For my next card, I was inspired by a vintage book cover I saw on Pinterest with a wonderful pattern constructed from oh so trendy, super skinny little triangles. I used the smallest ray from the Sunshine die to cut lots of little triangles and mimicked the pattern from the book on my card front, pairing it with a sentiment from Inside and Out Sayings.

Lastly I thought I’d leave you with a bit of fun! Here in the UK we have a saying “feeling a little off-colour” as in you aren’t feeling very well. So I thought I’d play around with the idea of something being a different colour to normal. A skunk has such a striking colour-way that I thought playing with the Stinkin’ Cute set was just perfect for this idea. So I coloured the skunk in green and popped him on a pillow (Pillow Talk) with a box of tissues to reinforce the idea of him being unwell. The sentiment is computer generated. Inside the card the sentiment continues and there is the sweet little fellow all feeling better and back to normal. The scene inside uses one of the Flat Bottom Cloud dies as a bush and a floral image from Petal Pieces as the sun :)
