Sketched Beauties

May Flaum here today to share with you a technique that has me using more white paint, mist, and my stencils than ever before!

The process is super simple too – just lay down a stencil, cover it with a thick coating of white paint, and mist!

I prefer Dylusions sprays for this – but any color would do. You can use loads of colors or just one.

004

Once you are satisfied with the amount of color, lift off the stencil and let it dry!

You can, of course, then come back in and add more colors if you aren’t happy with the results but I suggest letting it dry fully first as the colors will change as the paint and mist dries.

I have used my painted and stenciled background to create this card.

My bird is stamped onto specialty stamping paper and then colored with my favorite watercolor set. When I finished, I blotted the bird dry to create the cool texture effect you see.

This technique is one I just can’t get enough of! Here is another example. This time I started with a pink inked tag then used yellow and orange lists on top.

Playing with color combinations is so much fun – and I love how well this works with this lovely new stencil of mine.

The texture, color, and ability to get all kinds of color mediums out to play has this technique at the top of my list these days! I hope you’ve enjoyed my projects and that you try using your stencils in this way on a project in the near future!
