OWH Memorial Day Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Operation Write Home Memorial Day blog hop!

Operation Write Home supports our nation’s armed forces by sending blank handmade greeting cards to write home on, as well as “AnyHero” cards of  gratitude to encourage them. We are proud to support this amazing company!

I created an “AnyHero” card based on one of the great sketches that OWH provides.

Since I have an ‘oops’ on this card, I thought it would be a good time to add a little reminder about OWH guidelines to keep the troops safe… no glitter!

When I created this card, I completely forgot and added a bit of glitter to a couple of the red stars. I have since removed those and replaced them with regular non-glittered stars. ;)

Happy hopping!

  1. Cute card, love the RWB theme. Can’t wait to see the other projects, but I couldn’t find the link to the OWH blog hop.

  2. very nice card – it would someone very happy to receive it. the great thing about OWH cards is htat it makes so many people smile – the creator of the card, the shipper, the heroes who look through the cards and choose it to mail and then the person who receives it – they smile all over everyday when they look at that card from their loved one.

thanks for support Operation Write Home.

  3. FABULOUS card Stephanie – LOVE the angled panels and stars!!!
THANK YOU for sharing your OWH inspiration and THANK YOU for sharing about your “oops” too – it is a great reminder to us all.

  4. Your card layout is so cool – the way you placed the white cardstock. It adds a lot to the card.

  5. Your white-angled cardstock with the stars and perfect sentiment is a winner for OWH, especially in red, white & blue. Happy Memorial Day weekend!

  6. This was one of the most unusual OWH sketches ever and your approach is marvelous. Very classy. Those tiny silver embellishments are a perfect finishing touch and thanks for sharing the reminder about OWHs ‘no glitter’ rule too.

  7. We all have “oops” moments. I’ve become quite expert at covering up my “oops” because I’ve made so many — then the final looks even better than the original planned. Adore the way the card is set off-centered!

  8. Love this angled card. This was a very hard sketch to make and you did a fabulous job executing it. Sometimes with glitter (if it is only a little bit) is to cover it with glossy accents. Have a great day and thanks for supporting OWH!

  9. Lovely cards. The OWH Memorial Day Blog Hop was just lovely with great cards and designs.
Love the stars stamps and dies.

  10. Thanks for the reminder! I love the fact you told us the oop and colors and quality, of your card. TFS

  11. Yeah, that glitter rule is really hard to keep in mind…really important, of course, but I love to add the sparkle!

  12. Wow, what a great example of this sketch! I have yet to try this sketch, but I think I will now thati see a great example. Thanks so much for supporting OWH.

  13. The simplicity of this card makes it all so wonderful!! Thank you for being apart of this wonderful operation, it truly is amazing!

  14. This is too funny. I almost added glitter stars to my card for the OWH bloghop too. At the last moment I remembered that glitter is a big no-no. How could I forget the #1 rule? :) Thanks for the reminder and the sponsoring SN. I love the little pearl dots you added to your stars. Very creative way to add some bling without being a “danger” to our troops.
