Hi, Simon friends!
I’m happy to be here again! Always fun to swing by! Technique Tuesday recently started producing products designed on the artwork of Cath Edvalson. Some of you night know Cath from her time as Trends editor at Paper Crafts magazine and when she wrote on the Moxie Fab World blog.

Simon Says Stamp! is one of the first retailers to carry Cath’s products so I thought it’d be fun to share a couple cards made with one of my favorite Cath products, the Garden Leaves die. The die is based on some paper cutting Cath did.

I think it’s fun to create a stained glass look with the leaf.

Die-cut it a couple times from cardstock. Adhere it to a card and then use your markers to color in some of the openings. For a modern look, use bold colors like I did.

The die also comes with a mat.

So here I cut a couple mats from vellum. And then I added some leaves cut from white cardstock on top.
Here’s the tricky part: I flipped the leaves over and then used the same markers (the very same ones I used on the last card) and colored behind the leaves again.
If you try this at home, be sure to use bold colors. The vellum will mute the colors quite a bit. Finish the card off with a touch of sparkle!

Alright! Thanks for having me again today, Simon friends! Wishing you happiness in 2016!

  1. I love these so much, like how you can use both ways for two very different looks. Gorgeous, clean, and of course with a little sparkle!

  2. Even though the black accent is really nice on the first card I just love the white card, also. I also love to see two or more versions of the same thing – thanks.

  3. Great cards. I like the one colored on vellum the best. Thanks so much for the tips on how to achieve that effect. You are very creative and we appreciate you sharing your talent with us.

  4. Great cards! Love the black outline with the brightly colored leaves. Striking! As well, the colored leaves over the vellum look great, too. :)

  5. Love the idea of getting more ideas on how to get more techniques and uses from dies etc!! Both cards are just so simple but striking, although the second one is my favourite!!

  6. I really like this die set! Both cards are beautiful. My favorite is the one with the mat. Great job with these! TFS

  7. FABULOUS dies and DIE-lightful cards!!!
LOVE the CLEVER way of colouring inside the leaves and the DELICATE effect using vellum – THANK YOU for sharing your CREATIVE INSPIRATION Teri :)
