Not a Card with Nina-Marie: Macrame Rainbow Wall Hanging!

Hello there, friends! It’s Nina-Marie Trapani here with my latest installment of “Not a Card“! Today I am sharing a fun way to incorporate a little color into your craft room decor by creating a macrame wall hanging!

I used the My Life Handmade Macrame Wall Hanging kit to make this gorgeous, knotted art piece. Macrame looks beautiful in its natural state, but I wanted to step mine up and add a pop of color! Did you know? We actually offer a HUGE variety of macrame kits and products for your handmade pleasure! To see them all click or tap HERE!

With Tim Holtz Distress Spray Stains in Abandoned Coral, Wild Honey, Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio, Broken China, Wilted Violet, and Kitsch Flamingo, I sprayed a rainbow across my piece. You could customize this to whatever colors you prefer. I love rainbow colors, as you can probably tell!

  1. Nina, back in the 70’s when I was in school, we learned to Macrame’! Just a TIP: What we did was use a board to PIN the macrame’ to, while working. We used large T-Pins to do this! I don’t know HOW you were able to get this done working on a glass mat! The pins also help you get straight & even knots! No squiggly pieces in-between!

Your piece came out BEAUTIFULLY with the rainbow colors!!! ;)<3

  2. Love seeing other projects for using our many craft supplies. The macrame hanging brought me back to fond memories of my 20s!

  3. Wow! So pretty and loved the rainbow. This brought back some great memories when I used to do macrame. I remember doing plant hangers, etc. and it was so fun. Thanks for sharing this as it made me smile today.

  4. I know I’m dating myself but I loved doing macramé back in the day and have been thinking about getting one of these kits to give it another try. I would not have thought to use the spray stain. What a wonderful rainbow look. Absolutely love your project. Thanks for the tip about labeling the individual strings.

  5. Gorgeous Nina-Marie! I love that you made the hanging in rainbow colours. Macrame, the word alone already brings back many good memories. Thank you so much for sharing, stay safe and have a great Easter weekend.
