Multi Medium: Art Journal Page!

Happy Friday everyone! It’s Shari here with some inspiration to get you going for the weekend. I’ve created an art journal page… I know it doesn’t look easy, but I’ve kept things fairly basic for those of you who may be timid to start trying multi mediums.

If you break down the techniques, you’ll see how simple it really is. I started with Gesso to prime my card stock, then added in some embossing paste with the Building Hearts and Zig Zag Dots stencils.

My next step was to add color using Distress sprays and water. I wiped away some of the color with a baby wipe through the Moroccan Stencil to create a muted pattern.

I did a little bit of stamping and added some Prima Art glass glitter to my hearts and I was done! I’ve shot a video of the complete process. You can view it below or on our YouTube channel.

Have a great week-end!

  1. So beautiful! Love the single color. Sometimes, I just don’t “get” journal pages, but I love this!

  2. This looks like so much fun Shari. I simply have to quit being so afraid and jump on the mixed media band wagon. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Absolutely beautiful! So glad I watched this video! I’ve used the straw with Alcohol inks, but never thought to use it with Distress or water colors. And, I didn’t know you could ‘clean up’ the embossing paste either! I’m assuming all clean up was done with a baby wipe. Love.

  4. Always love watching your videos, Shari. Love the mottled/water colored back ground. What a great ‘back drop’ for the other elements. I was surprised that the baby wipe lifted the color
    off…that’s very cool! TFS.
