Monthly Mail Art with Kristina Werner – April 2018

Hello, all! Kristina here with another Monthly Mail Art! This month I created a monochromatic envelope design using the Even More Spring Flowers stamp set!

I started out the design by drawing a large banner shape by hand on Bristol Smooth paper and protecting the area with masking paper. Then I stamped flowers and leaves from the Even More Spring Flowers stamp set around the banner. After removing the masking paper, I was left with a banner shape in the middle of flowers.

To watercolor the envelope, I used only one Zig Clean Color Real Brush marker in the color black. I wanted the colorful postage stamps to stand out, so I kept the stamped area monochromatic.

I trimmed down the watercolored piece to the exact size of a black envelope and then adhered it to the envelope. To protect the design, I applied Distress Micro Glaze.

I hope you enjoyed the video! Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Love how the postage stamp is flowers and matches the design of your card. And the envelope is incredible! Heidi is lucky to get the card packaged like that!

  3. How awesome would it be for the recipient of a card like this when they open their mail box! Wow!

  4. So very pretty Kristina. Have you ever had a problem with the post office with your decorated envelopes? They are a work of art. Thanks for sharing with us.

  5. You really out did yourself with this envelope. Absolutely gorgeous. I really enjoy your mail art series. Truly inspirational. Thanks for sharing your talent.

  6. It’s always a happy day to see your mail art, Kristina! You definitely succeeded in the drama; the postage stamps really pop beautifully. I also think that it was smart to use the Zig markers, because there’s a little bit of other colors in the black that give it some nice depth. And the dashed edges go perfectly with the style of the stamps themselves. Basically, perfection. Thanks so much for sharing with us!

  7. Oh Heidi is such a lucky girl to get this stunning envelope, it was almost a pitty that you have to put postal stamps on the envelope. Thanks Kristina for showing us this gorgeous piece of art!

  8. Wow, wow, wow! Just love this!! Your envelopes are works of art that deserve to be hung on the wall next to your cards!
