Mixed Medium Die Cutting Techniques with Shari Carroll
Welcome everyone!! We are already halfway through DieCember® can you believe it????
I have a couple die cutting techniques that I experimented with to create an awesome mixed medium background. I cut out a couple snowflakes using laminating sheets and also Stick It adhesive sheets with watercolor paper for the others. I had in mind that the laminate snowflakes would resist the watercolor and the watercolor paper snowflakes would have darker edges where the paint would soak in. It WORKED!!!
Once I had my snowflakes cut out, I arranged them onto a watercolor panel and ran it through my die cut machine to press them in and to get a good seal. I used some Tim Holtz Distress Resist spray for added snowfall effects and then I went about water coloring with blues and teals.
I allowed everything to dry and then mounted the panel onto a card base. The main snowflake on the card also uses Stick It adhesive but on the front side and was misted with Rock Candy Distress glitter using the Stampers Annonymous Glitter Duster. I love the amount of glitter that the duster delivers!!
To finish my card, I white embossed a greeting and added some beautiful gems from Prima. I’ve filmed the entire process which you can watch below.
