Lawn Fawn Outer Space Envelope – Monthly Mail Art, March 2017

Lawn Fawn Outer Space Envelope - Monthly Mail Art, March 2017

Hello, all! Kristina here with another Monthly Mail Art. :)

For this month’s envelope, it all started with the moon postage stamp. I thought it would be fun to incorporate the postage stamp into the design. So I paired it with Lawn Fawn’s new Out of This World stamp set.

I created a simple ink blended galaxy on a Brilliant Ultra Heavy White envelope using Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserves, Mustard Seed, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot. The stars were created by drawing dots and sparkling stars using a Uniball Signo Broad white gel pen.

The astronaut was stamped and masked off during the ink blending, then colored in using Prismacolor Colored Pencils.

As for the address on the envelope, I made sure the area behind the address would remain white and then used a black pen to write the address. I didn’t want to use additional postage, so I had to make sure that this envelope remained “machinable,” or that the machines at the post office would still be able to read the address when sorting the mail. If it would have been nonmachinable, I would have needed to put more postage on the envelope (and that looked a bit strange next to the circular moon postage stamp).

To protect the envelope from any moisture, I sealed it with Distress Micro Glaze.

Anyhow, I hope you like this month’s Monthly Mail Art. It was fun!
