Hero Arts Anniversary Blog Hop – Day 3

Welcome to Day 3 of the Hero Arts 45th Anniversary Blog Hop!!! I’m honored to be a part of this hop and so proud of Hero Arts for their accomplishments!

I’m taking it back old school to shadow stamps and real flowers. Hero Arts released several “From the Vault” images for their anniversary. Theses stamps were some of my favorites to work with.

I stamped this first card using Smoke Ink with the Aged Shadow Stamp and also used the Hero Arts Dandelion die for my focal point. I’ve kept it clean and simple. This is such a quick card to make!

This next card features a technique I developed when I was with Hero Arts called Stamp Layering. I used the “From the Vault” Real Poppy with Butter Bar and Soft Yellow ink on the blossom portion and Field Greens for the stem.

The technique is simple, stamp with the darker inks first and without cleaning the stamp, ink it up with the lighter colors and stamp once more. The residual color from the darker inks stay on the rubber and will mix with the lighter ink giving you fresh new color tone between the two.

  1. Happy Anniversary to Hero Arts! Wishing many more to come! :) Such pretty cards! Especially love the first one with the dimension!

  2. I really like these cards. The clay background shadow stamp is such a cool color. I would have never chosen yellow for the flowers but now I will. You are an inspiration.

  3. These are so pretty! Love the soft colors, and I can see the background stamp becoming a favorite (and must have!) after seeing these wonderful creations!

  4. Your “vault” cards are just beautiful! They would make such a lovely gift set stamped in different colors and using the technique you described. The die cut flower with the embellishment is very pretty, too. Love the simplicity and the texture!

  5. Wow! I’ve had the dandelion die for a while and have never been happy with my efforts but THIS is stunning!

  6. Oh my goodness–I’m pretty sure I have that old flower stamp (& some of the other real flower HA stamps) & I know I have several shadow stamps! These are some of my all-time favorite cards which goes to show you don’t have to have all the new stuff to make beautiful cards! But, of course, companies need people to keep buying & I did more than my share before I retired–haha!

  7. “Everyone” is using the aged shadow stamp today. I wish it were in stock because if it was I would be using it too! Thanks for sharing your use of the really neat stamp.

  8. Happy 45th to Hero Arts! So thankful you sell their products. The cards here are really cute. Thanks for sharing.

  9. I really like this technique and am going to try it today! Thanks for sharing and for supporting Hero Arts on their anniversary!

  10. All of your cards are so pretty, especially the first sample. Love the monochromatic color, it’s gorgeous!

  11. These examples make me so happy I keep my “older” stamps. So fun to see original stamps made new with great techniques. Congrats to Hero Arts for 45 years. Impressive milestone for an impressive company.

  12. What a joyous occasion this is. I have seen many company’s come and go. To still be here going strong at 45 years says a lot about the company. I can’t wait to be here for their 50th anniversary.

  13. Simply love these cards “from the vault”…these HA products are now on my “must have” list! tfs

  14. I love the subtle backgrounds Shari! Beautiful cards! TFS and Happy Anniversary to Hero Arts!
