Hi there! I’m so happy to be back on the Simon Says Stamp blog to share some inspiration with all of you! My card today features the die-cut inlay technique using the fabulous Hero Arts Palm Die.

To create the card I die cut the palm twice — once from white cardstock and once from kraft cardstock. Then I used the negative piece left from the kraft cardstock and adhered it to a piece of copy paper. (Be sure to save any little filler pieces that might need to placed in later!) Then I inked up the white palm with Peacock Feather Distress Ink and then spritzed it with some Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine. And then I inlaid the colored palm onto the kraft piece for a perfectly smooth finish.

I created a window with my craft knife for the gold heat embossed sentiment to show through. I just love the font mix on this sentiment…and the others in the set are pretty great, too! To finish off the card I added a gold glitter strip to the top of the card and a few more drops of Gold Color Shine.

A big thanks to Simon for having me today! Hope you all have a wonderful day!

  3. An absolutely stunning card…and a real inspiration to expand on the great techniques that were introduced here. I can hardly wait to come home from work today so that I can play!

  4. I really like the clean look of this type of die cutting. The gold adds a lot to the kraft cs.

  5. Love the gold flecks and embossing. I make cards for Operation Write Home and glitter is a no-no so this is a good idea for the cards.

  6. The inlaid die cut is very pretty. Wondered why you didn’t color the die cut before you cut it out?

  7. Such a pretty inlay card…love that gold spray. I just bought it and it is just beautiful in real life.

  8. Awesome Palm die. I love how you brought it to life with all that gold and spritzing. It is so pretty in the kraft paper. I love the gold embossing! Thanks for sharing!
