Hello it’s Debby here popping in to wish all who celebrate a Happy Christmas! Today’s post is all about using your supplies in creative ways and I have to stick my hands up and say that this isn’t the most creative I’ve been with my supplies but this card makes me smile and I hope it makes you smile too :D Eternal Simon favorites of are the cat and dog that Kristina Werner designs. I absolutely adore these two and wanted to include them in my holiday card. I started with two non-holiday sets though – the dog is from You Are Pawesome and the cat is from the Halloween set, Trick or Treat. A little selective inking and few simple accessories bring these guys into the festive season. The dog is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black apart from his nose which is selectively stamped in Lipstick Red. He’s colored with Copics and then accessorized with a pair of antlers created using a couple of the tips from the Melody snowflake colored with brown Copics. The antlers have been given a little festive bling with some Star Dust Stickles and his nose a good dose of Glossy Accents.

The cat (otherwise know as Mannie after Kristina’s own cat) is selectively stamped in Memento tuxedo black – I omitted the mask and eyes from this Halloween set and then afterwards drew in my own eyes. It was too fiddly to try and ink the eyes and not the mask. Mannie is Copic colored with a red Santa coat and accessorized with a black belt (slither of Black card) and gold buckle (hole punch from Y35 colored card). I couldn’t resist adding a fake beard to Mannie and tried various options. The tip of a Fall Leaves die was promising but in the end I borrowed Santa’s beard from the Ugly Sweater set, trimming it slightly to fit Mannie and then blacking the edges with a Memento marker so it looked stamped.

These two Christmas Critters are then mounted onto the sledge from the Home For The Holidays set cut with its matching die from Holidays At Home with a backdrop of Stitched Slopes and Hills and a sentiment from Winter Friends stamped in Black on a banner again from the Holidays At Home dies.

As this is my last post before the Holidays I want to wish all the fabulous folks who make up the Simon family and all the wonderful readers here at Simon’s blog a happy Christmas and an awesome New Year!

  1. Adorable card Debby’, love those cute critters with the snowy background. The sled is perfect to anchor them!

  2. How did you avoid the mask? I love this card. You have reminded us all to think out of the box and find other ways to use our stamps! Thanks for the wonderful inspiration!

  3. This is just too cute! When I saw the beard on Mannie, I just said, “Oh, my gosh!” I think Debby had a great idea and executed it wonderfully. Thanks so much for bringing a smile to my stressed-out face! :) Hope y’all have a wonderful holiday season, whatever holiday you celebrate!

  4. Debby,

I love your creativeness! Halloween into Christmas? I wouldn’t have thought of it, but I will next time, thanks to you!

  5. This is just too cute! I’m not an ‘outside the box’ kind of gal, but I sure admire those who are. Thanks, Debby; this is fun. And Merry Christmas to you also.

  6. I didn’t realize that Kristina actually designed these stamps too!!! That explains why the cat is referred to as Mannie!! I love these stamps and will have to sign up and make an account here after CHRISTmas etc because there is a lot of stuff that I want to get!! I’m glad that the Magnificent, Mario J Rossi messaged me back on fb after I complained that Sizzix don’t ship to Australia!! He let me know about you guys and your reasonable shipping prices!! Also glad that I subscribed to your blog via email so I shouldn’t miss out on anything!!! Thanks for a the great inspiration etc!!!

  7. Debby, that card cracks me up. I still keep seeing the vampire cat, though I’m trying to make the transition to Santa! Maybe a little red hat would help me.

  8. This card is sooo cute. Anything with a puppy or cat melts my heart at this time of year. I’m so glad you remembered that our animals enjoy the Holidays, too.

  9. Very creative use of stamps and dies to make a Santa Cat and Reindeer dog! Mannie is so handsome with his cape and beard! Merry Christmas, Debby!

  10. Debby, too stinkin cute, it made me smile and of coarse the cat rules. I just always love your cards. Thanks for sharing your talent with us and have a Merry Christmas.

  11. I love how Debby sees unexpected ways to combine and repurpose stamps.
She is always amazing, one of my favorite designers, and this card is just too cute.
