Is anyone else totally in Thanksgiving mode? I am, we are having our family over to our new house for Thanksgiving so I’m getting things ready to have our first gathering! So I was inspired to create a thanksgiving card for you today.  I wanted to create a big bold sentiment with the critters as supporting elements so I thought die cuts would be the perfect way to do that.

I stamped gingham backdrops in red Lobster ink on red cardstock for a tone on tone pattern and I chose cork for the scripty thanks for some extra texture.  I had originally planned on using the die cut letters for both words but since I had laid out my dies perfectly on the red I ended up with a perfect negative die cut that I liked even better!

The leaves and corn are from the happy harvest set and I just stamped them around in various inks to act like simple embellishment rather than sequins and then I finished it off with a little rustic twine along the top.

  1. Good use of the clear background stamp! I have lots of stamps like that and always struggled with incorporating them. Thanks for sharing your idea!

  2. I liked the tone on tone that you used for the red. Enjoy your new home and having family over for the holidays .

  3. Just got done coloring these little critters myself. I may have to add some Thanksgiving images to them. My mother in law is cooking this year and I am grateful to her for that. I usually make her a card. Thanks for the inspiration nudge.

  4. Aww! How sweet. Love these tiny critters. The cork is a great idea to add texture. I so dislike finding wishbone in my pumpkin pie, don’t you? ;)

  5. happy thanksgiving for those who celebrate it thursday i believe, lovely card, you can use elements of it for “narmal”thank you cards so good all year round

  6. This is adorable! I like the sentiment using the negative space too. Happy Thanksgiving! May your family gathering be blessed beyond measure!!!

  7. Such talent and such generous heart by Chari and the other designers for SSS are indeed
a gift to be thankful for, especially this week. Cheers to all.

  8. Awesome card Chari! I bought some of the cork; but, haven’t tried it yet. Looks really cool. Fabulous coloring!!!
    Thanks for sharing with us!

  9. Wow, what a cool ideal. I will use this to make cards for work. I make card fronts and blank cards that k-5 can use during recess when its inside due to weather for things to do. They make cards for their family and friends. They love the stuff I bring in. Most of them love to color and make stuff. Thanks for the ideas.

  10. Very cute; love the colors and the way your sentiments turned out, using negative space and the word “thanks” in cork – a compliment to each other. This design would make delightful place cards, too, for the Thanksgiving table.
