Hi readers! Happy Monday to you! I hope your week is starting off wonderfully! Today I’m so pleased to be back with guest designer Yana Smakula who made a gorgeous card using some brand new Hero Arts products as well as some great existing product! Let’s have a look!

Hi everyone! With Spring being just around the corner I thought it would be fun to do some simple watercolor stamping. And to be honest I was itching to play with my new Hero Arts and BasicGrey stamps for quite some time so this seemed like a perfect occasion!

I inked a large waves background stamp using several colors of Hero Arts daubers – I went with brights and neons; added water with the help of a mini mister and stamped it onto a piece of Hero Arts snow white paper. To somehow frame this piece I added machine stitching, I intentionally stayed away from straight lines – I tried to make my stitching look like the stamped waves.

I also stamped and heat embossed several images from the Set Sail set in gold embossing powder onto vellum. I cut them out using my scissors and used them as embellishments for my card.
I layered the steering wheel and added the Enjoy The Journey sentiment from the Set Sail stamp set on top using foam adhesive for a bit of dimension. The sentiment was heat embossed on pool paper from Hero Arts.

I also added a few other heat embossed images and several gold gems onto my stamped panel. To finish my card I used foam squares and adhered my panel onto an A2 top folding card base which I made using Hero Arts Pool layering paper.

Thank you so much joining me today! And big thanks to Simon Says Stamp for inviting me! Have a great day! Hugs!

  1. As soon as I saw that stamp I thought it might be good to watercolor with. I was wrong … it’s Awesome! Thanks so much for sharing this with us.

  2. This is absolutely gorgeous! LOVE the background and even though there is a lot on it it is so simple! LOVE this!!

  3. I should really get this for my dads birthday! He loves being out on the sea in our boat and just enjoy the nice weather! The gold embossing fits perfectly on the card and I love the background stamp!

  4. Yana, this is a handsome card, suitable for male or female. I love the background waves with the varied colors. My eye also caught right away the waved stitching on the edges, which looks very nice with your layout. Very well done – love the embellishments on top.

  5. What a great card. I love the wavy machine stitches you added along the edges. It mimics the ocean waves. I want to try my hand at water coloring with daubers. You may it look beautiful.

  6. Ooooh Yana, your card IS pretty. No wonder you are hooked on water colouring these days. I would be too if I could do it like that! The gold on it really pops.

  7. I love the card. And, thanks for showing a way to use the daubers. I’ve been interested in those but haven’t seen a lot of people use them, so I wasn’t sure if I wanted to purchase them. Now I do!

  8. Lovely card. Love the gold color on the blue. I wish I had a sewing machine to do sewing around the cards. Love the look. Thank you for sharing you’re lovely work.
