Studio Monday with Nina-Marie: Doodlebug Treat Bags for Halloween!
Hello crafters, welcome back to a brand new Studio Monday video! We have a bit more Halloween inspiration for you, this week featuring Doodlebug Design!
Doodlebug’s Booville collection is full of fun embellishments, paper, stickers, ephemera and oh-so-much more! I used quite a few things from the collection today in these adorable treat bags, which would be perfect to fill will candy or other delicious goodies.
I paired the Doodlebug collection with multiple styles of treat bags… one of which was Lawn Fawn’s Goodie Bag die; this die is really fun to make favors, gift bags or candy sacks! In these Halloween bags, they look adorable! I cut the bags with Doodlebug’s Petite Prints 12×12 papers; you’ll want to use a large paper size when cutting with the Lawn Fawn Goodie Bag die because a 6×6 paper does not work with it (6×6 papers are just slightly too small).
I made little scenes on each of these bags. You’ll notice cute Doodle-Pops stickers such as the Trick or Treats and Wanda Witch from Doodlebug. Grassy borders cut with Gingham-Linen rainbow papers from Doodlebug and Lawn Fawn’s Grassy Hillsides die. And the cute Booville Odds and Ends ephemera, such as the ghost and stars on this little treat bag:
Another bag I feature in the video are the kraft-backed zipper pouches, which we carry here at Simon. These are inexpensive little treat containers that are also fun to decorate!
You’ll notice I created scenes on each of these bags as well, using the same products I listed above. On these I added decorate borders on the tops of each bag using out Simon exclusive Scallop Stitches dies. Putting a die cut edge on these little pouches really dresses them up!
These pouches also have two notches along the top part of the bag which are perfect for tying twine or ribbon around. I used twine that I had in my stash and added some that coordinated with each scene on my bags.
Another little detail was inserting a bit of the Doodlebug Booville and Gingham-Linen 6×6 papers inside each pouch. Slipping these into the bags helped finish off the scenes and add extra pops of color!
Next up is this awesome box, chock-full with candy! I did not show in the video how I made this treat box, simply because it was done in a similar manner as all the other treat bags.
This kraft box is another treat container we sell at Simon and has a sealed window feature that allows you to see into the box (and the delicious goodies inside!). The box is pre-scored and built; its simply is a matter of unflattening the box! I decorated it with all of the same products used in the other treat containers you’ve seen.
One of my favorite parts of this box are the adorable eyes on the candy corn and spider… those are from the Doodlebug Eye Candy Sprinkles sticker pack. You’ve probably seen them adhered to many of the characters on my treat bags today… I had fun sticking them on whenever possible!
One more treat bag idea for you is to reuse gift baggies you may already have! This treat bag – featuring the ghosts from Doodlebug’s Odds and Ends pack – was a baggie that had originally held a bunch of sequins. I loved the cute polka dot pattern on it so much that I had saved the bag and it was a perfect treat container for today’s post!
I encourage you to stretch your mind a bit and see what kind of things you can reuse to make your own little goodie bags!
I hope you will check out the video below to see these ideas and learn more about how I created the bags! Thanks so much for stopping by and spending time with me today… I will see you again very soon with more inspiration to share!
