DIY Decoration Idea for Jars!

Happy Sunday to you all! It’s Shari here with a DIY project that helps me feel a little better about my addiction to cold coffee drinks! To start off, I’ve added layers of book text in all directions to cover the entire bottle.

Then to diffuse and to create texture, I’ve added wrinkled up tissue paper. I’ve used my twine to wrap the top of the bottle which gives it a finished edge.

And finally I used some Prima Flowers to decorate. I have a video for you of the process below or you can view it on our YouTube channel.

  1. Lovely idea for a jar! It would be fun to enlist the help of some tweens to make a bunch of jars for holiday tablescapes.

  2. I love your repurpose of these bottles. What a great idea to be a special gift for someone or a great decoration. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Love this! I am in the middle of creating painted jars to decorate for my son’s wedding reception, I love this alternative! Thanks for the inspiration!

  4. I get jars occasionally and wonder if there’s a way to do something with them. Now I know! Pretty and the flowers don’t wilt!

  5. Love this vase. The bottle is just perfect for this project. I like how you wrapped the twine at the top. Looks like your flowers are real…so I’m assuming you must be very careful not to get the water on the flowers? Thanks for the tutorial.

  6. Shari, that is so cute. I LOVE collecting things I can recycle and these bottles are awesome!! The Prisma flowers are perfect on it too!! Thanks for sharing.

  7. Lovely! I have half a dozen of those bottles that I saved for a project like this. I peeled off the labels and cleaned off the adhesive and the date stamp with CitraSolv, so I don’t have to use opaque paper.

  8. I love these bottles for upcycling. My SIL used to live with us and I kept all the empties. Now I’ll have to find a new source to go with your new idea! :o)
