Caring Hearts Blog Hop!

The holidays are just around the corner, filled with opportunities to celebrate with family and friends. But during this special season, many of the elderly who live in nursing homes may be alone and missing their families. Wouldn’t it be awesome to bring smiles to their faces and brighten their holidays? That’s what the Caring Hearts Card Drive is all about! This wonderful card drive was started by Vera Yates and Jennifer McGuire and is in its 5th year of collecting holiday cards to send to the elderly in nursing homes. Please join us in spreading cheer this holiday season with the Caring Hearts Card DriveClick Here for all the details, including what to send and where to send it. Note: All cards must be received by November 28, 2014. For more details, please head to the blogs of Vera Yates or Jennifer McGuire.

For this amazing card drive and blog hop, I’ve created a holiday card that includes a “Shaker” element. I thought it was another fun way to use the Bundle of Stitches dies along with the Line Shape Dies.

The combination of  Coral Reef ink and Seal Glass card stock together makes for one of my favorite soft color combos!

I’ve shot a quick video on how I made my card. Enjoy!

  1. Very nice card. I believe I will recreate it, that’s how much I like it. I’ll change my colors some ’cause I don’t want to be a total thief. BTW, when making cards for seniors with dementia, you probably don’t want to do shaker cards. I did a few shaker cards for the pile of cards I give to start resident in the NH my mom resides in & the activities director had to help me luck which one went to who because she said some on the more confused will think that the shaker element is candy & try to eat the card!

  2. Beautiful card. Love how you covered the edge of the tag so creatively and also how you extended the tag to where no one will ever know. Thanks!

  3. Shaker cards are my favorites!!! It just adds so much to the card and it is some easy to do. Your card is cute and clever!!

  4. Clean, simple and yet oh so beautiful! Thanks for th in depth look at creating the shaker part of the card!
    Blessings
