Art Journaling with Therm O Web Deco Foils

I’m getting my “Shine On” in my art journal today. I’ve played around with the Simon Says Stamp Modern Flowers dies and Therm O Web’s Deco Foils to create a centered arrangement. The black pages of the Dylusions Creative Journal really make the foils pop!

I love using my journal to remind me of techniques to use on my cards. This is definitely a technique I’ll try again. Something quick, easy, and dramatic!

I pressed Stick It Adhesive paper onto some black cardstock, then die cut my pieces. I used 1″ Post It tape to create a guide around the edges of the page. Using my Simon Says Stamp Craft Tacky Glue, I adhered the pieces in place. Once the glue was dry, I removed the Stick It paper from the flowers and added the foils.

With this design, I have plenty of room to add my personal journaling around the edges. Imagine the possibilities by using your dies with foils to create your own dramatic effects! Enjoy!

  2. love how you can use these foils without having to have a laminator – very versatile. LOVE the shine!!

  3. Beautiful card I have always been hesitant to use foil but you made it look easy. Thanks for sharing.

  4. I’ll bet this card is absolutely beautiful in real life. It’s so hard to capture shine and sparkle in a photo or video some times. Really pretty!

  5. Now I want to “get MY shine on”! Thanks Shari for your awesome ideas, honestly, I never thought of using my foils on an art journal page and I love these on the black…Genius!

  6. This is gorgeous–love how you don’t need a laminating machine to do it–I’ve got to try this method.

  7. Wow! This is beautiful! I love that you can foil without a special machine! I’m definitely going to try this- all I need to buy are the foil sheets!

  8. Thank you so much Shari for demonstrating a foiling technique that doesn’t require a foiling machine. I love the look of foiling, but I can’t justify the expense of a machine. However, I DO have StickIt! I’ve be giving this a try soon. Your journal page is absolutely stunning.

  9. The colors really pop off the black.
I need to do the foiling more often.
    thanks for sharing

  10. So pretty! I’ve been resisting jumping into foiling, but I think it’s time to give it a try. :)

  11. Bright and sparkly on that black background! I was surprised that the die cuts were adhered to the background first and foiled after.

  12. Love the look of the foil against the black. The colors really pop. Great ideas for easy application, too. Thanks for sharing!

  13. This is really pretty. I think I have some Stick It lounging around in my studio. I already follow by email.
