Art Journaling: Abstract Painted Backgrounds
Welcome
I love Dina Wakley for her easy style, dry brush techniques, and let it go attitude. So… I’m channeling her for this page. In her teachings, she talks about focal and starting points and ways to just get the paint on the paper or canvas. I’ve chosen the “cross” and have followed it quite literally in this design.
I’ve always wanted to able to “just let go”, the dry brush technique is exactly what I needed to try. I love the areas where the brush skips over the paper leaving a nice textured look.
This was fun, and as you can see in my video below, the painting went really fast! I might just keep this smaller journal for practicing and trying more painted backgrounds so I can track my progress.
I hope I’ve given you some inspiration to pull out your journal, paints and just GO FOR IT!!
