Altenew Crafty Friends Blog Hop Day 1 with Shari Carroll

Altenew, Blog Hop

Welcome to the Altenew Crafty Friends Blog Hop!!! If you’re coming from Laura Jane‘s blog, you’re in the right place. We are celebrating our unique stamping community by sharing projects inspired by what we love, stamping and crafting!!

Right now, I’m inspired to make Christmas cards. I thought it would be fun to use some non-holiday stamps to create my card. I used the Altenew Watercolor Dots and Holiday Script Words to create a clean and simple look.

I stamped the star images first and silver embossed them. Next, I stamped the dots in white to finish off my quick background. I cut a triangle from red cardstock and mounted it to the card with a silver circle at the top. I used the “Believe” die from the Holiday Script Words die set from Silver Silk Tonic paper mounted to a strip of Slate cardstock. Pretty easy peasy!!!

  1. Love this card; the imaginative flair, the hat (or tree : ) ) and your techniques. You so SUCH good work it’s always a pleasure….

  2. Shari My first thought on the card was the red is a tree. It could be a santa hat or a tree so I m going to stick with my first thought and say it is a tree>

  3. Love this card. Santa hat or Christmas tree? I was wondering the same thing when I first saw the card, but I’m going with Santa’s hat. Thanks for the inspiration!

  4. I think it’s a tree but I can see a Santa hat as well. This card is lovely and seemed to come together quickly, perfect for mass producing. Thanks for the great idea.

  5. That’s exactly what I thought when I saw this! First I just saw a triangle so assumed it was a tree, but then saw that it looks like a Santa hat, especially because of the color and the circle on top.

  6. Such a pretty Christmas card, I love the CAS design. My first thought was a Santa hat (maybe a tree if there was a star on top instead?!) Thanks for all your inspiration and another awesome video tutorial.

  7. It’s a tree – it’s a hat – it’s a tree ~ It’s whatever you want it to be! Ha, ha. I was bouncing this around in my head even before I saw the question. Great card Shari!

  8. So creative! Fabulous holiday card using non-holiday stamps. Love the fun background with the silver embossing. I first thought your card was of a tree, until you posed the question, and then I thought it was a Santa hat because of the sentiment. Having watched the video, I know what your intent was ;)

  9. This card is so cute, love the simplicity, limited color palette and a bit of sparkle. (I see the triangle as a tree.)

  10. A tree or a hat? Hmmm…that question is too hard for my tired little brain tonight, so I’m going to say…I love the snowflakes! Love the color palette too. Good night–and have a blessed weekend Shari! Hugs!!!

  11. The red and silver makes a very festive card. My first impression before seeing the question was the red cone shape was a cute Santa hat.

  12. Good question lol. I thought it was a tree until you mentioned the hat. Regardless of what it is this is a great card. I like the layout and the fact that you added texture with the embossing.

  13. i believe it is a santa hat, the circle on the top represents the pompom and the clear dots being a clear snow from an area that does not get snow but gets rain that is my thought . i think it is a wonderful card

  14. Love this! Kind of a retro background! My first thought when I saw this is that it’s a tree, but once I saw you ask whether we think it’s a tree or a santa hat, I could see it as a hat. But with the clear ‘baubles’ I think it looks more like a tree… :D

  15. My first impression was what a cool unique retro looking card with a Christmas tree! I can see how you think it could be a santa hat too but it really looks like a cool tree to me. As always Shari, you knocked this one out of the park. Thank you for the GREAT inspiration!

  16. I thought it was a Santa hat :) But then I would’ve expected a white trim. It’s super cute either way! Your glossy dots looks so perfect and uniform

  17. I never even thought of Santa’s hat until I read what you had written, It was a tree in my mind but now I can see it as Santa’s hat. Either way, I LOVE the card!

  18. It is a Santa’s Hat, only because of the slate strip of CS and the word believe. But take away the strip and change the word…… Then it would be a tree. But either way, I love how you used non traditional items to create this awesome card!

  19. Wow Shari! I love the modern take on this card! It’s stunning :) The red triangle is ABSOLUTELY a tree!!! Thanks for sharing :)
