Altenew Crafty Friends Blog Hop Day 1 with Shari Carroll
Welcome to the Altenew Crafty Friends Blog Hop!!! If you’re coming from Laura Jane‘s blog, you’re in the right place. We are celebrating our unique stamping community by sharing projects inspired by what we love, stamping and crafting!!
Right now, I’m inspired to make Christmas cards. I thought it would be fun to use some non-holiday stamps to create my card. I used the Altenew Watercolor Dots and Holiday Script Words to create a clean and simple look.
I stamped the star images first and silver embossed them. Next, I stamped the dots in white to finish off my quick background. I cut a triangle from red cardstock and mounted it to the card with a silver circle at the top. I used the “Believe” die from the Holiday Script Words die set from Silver Silk Tonic paper mounted to a strip of Slate cardstock. Pretty easy peasy!!!

My question to you: Is the triangle on my card a tree or a Santa hat? I’d love to hear your answers!!!

I am always so inspired by your creations–thank you.
Love that colour combo, Sheri … such a delicious, contemporary look! I think the triangle is a tree … if it was Santa’s hat, it would have a furry cuff along the bottom edge!! Anita :)
Cute! I saw a tree until I read your question! What a darling card.
it is a tree! Beautiful Card. I just love it!
this is my favorite card
so far on the hop!
LOVE it!!!!!!
I love everything about this card! It is also my favorite so far. I see a tree. :-) Thank you!
What did you use to stamp the stars? Love the simplicity of this card!
love the color combo – the pop of red is fantastic against the grey!!!
A tree, of course! Love this card, Shari. So unique and so creative.
Love this card! Looks like a Santa hat to me!!! :)
I saw the tree first, then the hat after you mentioned it. I love that you used non Christmas stamps to create your card. Thank you for sharing.
Love this card – great idea – when I first saw it, I thought Santa’s hat, but I am pretty sure it was created with a tree punch or die cut.
Beautiful card! I love the shimmer. At first glance I saw a tree. Your question made me wonder. It can be either and it’s still beautiful.
Great design. I like the background. Looks like a Santa hat to me.
Great ide!!!
Great idea!!!
I just adore this card! Originally, I thought it was an elf hat because of the Scandinavian red and gray tones, but then when I looked closer, I thought it could be a Christmas tree. I think it goes both ways. I just love the red and gray colors!!
At first I thought Santa hat but now I see the tree!
Great graphic design! I didn’t think of a Santa hat until you mentioned it. Cool design either way.
It was a tree all the way until the ball went on the top, then I started thinking Santa hat. It is whatever makes you happy.
Amazing creation!
It’s a hat, of course.
beautiful contemporary card….like the silver
looks like a tree to me :).
What a fun card. Who wouldn’t love to receive a beautiful card like yours in the mail?!!
I keep forgetting how much I love this color scheme.. can’t wait to watch the video for this stunning card. Lovely job Shari!
That’s fun, because red & gray is my favorite festive color combo this year.
so cute and very creative, love the background!
I love the clean lines and modern design of your card Shari! Those colors are great together.TFS
It’s a Santa hat…I believe in Santa!
What a cute, spirited card! It sings happy!
Such a fun idea!!

What a great idea. Beautiful way to use your supplies.
I am always so inspired by your designs. Love this card!
Super card, love the base color of grey for the holiday card. Lovely!
I see a beautiful decorated Christmas tree! I love everything about this card… it is exquisite. Thank you for sharing.
Such a festive card!! Love the red and silver!! Thank you!!
I love this card! Sometimes we get caught up in making cards too intricate and time consuming…so I love this fast , easy idea! I saw a Santa hat when I first saw this card! But it certainly looks like a fun fresh take on a tree as well!
I saw a tree at first, but then I looked again after you said hat and now I see a Santa hat! lol Either way it’s a Beautiful card!!!
Love the colors you used…just made a card recently using them myself. I see a triangle made into a hat! Cleaver. :-)
That is clearly a tree Shari – until you asked the question there was never a doubt in my mind – haha.
I love your background, it’s gorgeous :)
Ha! I just love your simple card. I saw a tree until you posed the question!
It’s a hat … it’s a tree … it’s a Super card from Shari!!
It’s simply brilliant. Love the colours and design.
Shari, what an adorable card. Love the Santa hat.
Hat or tree … both work on this gorgeous card design!!! Love the embossing resist silver stars!!!
Love your retro looking card!! Thanks for the video, too. I probably would have used the background stamp first but it makes much more sense to do things in the order you did. If I stamped the circles first it probably would have made placement of the little sparkles a lot more difficult. As for the hat or tree question I’m guessing hat since it’s red and has a circle on top instead of the star. Plus it reminds me of the retro-style hat. :)
I love the simplicity here. I fedinitely saw a tree but when u mentioned the hat, it could go that way but it needs the cuff at the bottom.
WOW… this is one of the most beautiful Christmas cards I’ve seen. Classy, elegant and it has my three colors: silver, grey and red.
Lovely card! Thanks for the inspiration! What a wonderful blog hop to celebrate this great international crafty community!
Love the gray and red!
