Altenew Crafty Friends Blog Hop Day 1 with Shari Carroll
Welcome to the Altenew Crafty Friends Blog Hop!!! If you’re coming from Laura Jane‘s blog, you’re in the right place. We are celebrating our unique stamping community by sharing projects inspired by what we love, stamping and crafting!!
Right now, I’m inspired to make Christmas cards. I thought it would be fun to use some non-holiday stamps to create my card. I used the Altenew Watercolor Dots and Holiday Script Words to create a clean and simple look.
I stamped the star images first and silver embossed them. Next, I stamped the dots in white to finish off my quick background. I cut a triangle from red cardstock and mounted it to the card with a silver circle at the top. I used the “Believe” die from the Holiday Script Words die set from Silver Silk Tonic paper mounted to a strip of Slate cardstock. Pretty easy peasy!!!

My question to you: Is the triangle on my card a tree or a Santa hat? I’d love to hear your answers!!!

I think this is sooo cute!! When I first saw it, I thought it could be either a tree or Santa’s hat – so I see both! lol
This is so cute and I think it would be a great card idea for my teenage grandson. I know you kept calling it a tree, but with the believe sentiment and if you believe in Santa, it could be a Santa hat!
A Santa hat !! Loved the Christmas card :)
Amazing card.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I really love this card. It’s got a retro feel. Love the clear drops also?
It is a tree and a hat! Very cute!
Beautiful card.
What a fun way to use that BG stamp! Such a pretty card that features a “santa hat”.
This card is so sparkly and fun!! It is definitely a Santa hat .. because we all still Believe, right!
I love the simplicity & elegance of this card. Whether you want to call it a tree or Santa’s hat, it’s the perfect card to use when sending out festive holiday cards.
Love the layered stamping and Santa hat/tree!
I absolutely LOVE the silver monochrome with the pop of red! Beautiful and clean. Love it! Thanks for the inspiration – every day!!
Thanks for sharing this beautiful card.
I see it as an elf’s hat–but also as a tree. It’s gorgeous, seen both ways!
This is such a gorgeous card!
A tree, definitely a tree. Santa’s hat is floppy. But it’s very cute, whatever you call it!
It’s a Santa hat, of course! Either way, this is a beautiful card!
STUNNING color combination!
Love this card. The color scheme is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing this idea.
Always love use year round stamps for other Holiday projects.
Very cute.
I think it’s a tree and I love the creativity of this card! Thanks for sharing!
I saw a tree, but I can now see a Santa hat, too. Either way, it’s a very cute, festive card!
Very nice card, definitely Christmas tree :)
I believe it is a tree – there are stars and snowflakes on the backing – that is my story and I am sticking to it. Love the clean look of this card.
Such a cute fun card!
No matter what you call it, hat or tree, it is so stunning. Love it.
At first I saw a Santa hat and then the tree, so both! :)
Great card!
The water drop accents are so cool. Love it!
It’s a hat! What a fun card. It reminds me of vintage designs but yet it is so modern!
Great card. I think it looks like a Santa hats. Love it.
I love the simplicity of this beauty. I think it looks much like a gnome’s hat. I have seen so many cute ones this holiday season. First and foremost I see Happy Holidays…..
Awesome holiday card using non holiday stamps! Thanks for the video!
I see both a hat and a tree. I love this card- so CAS but very striking! I’m very much drawn to cards like this.
Santa hat for sure! Love the silver circle on top.
This is one of my all time favorite cards! just love it!
beautiful card!!
I see both images, but my first thought was a tree. Love the background!!!
I definitely thought this was a tree when I first saw the email! So cute and so fun! Love this inspiration and can’t wait to try something similar with items from my stash! Thanks!
I love this card. The video takes what looks like a very complicated card and makes it look so easy to make.
Love this easy peasy lovely card!
You always find a way to showcase simplicity Shari! I believe:) Love your use of shape and color here!
My first thought is that it’s a tree because of the starry background, but I can definitely see where it could be a hat also. Just let the recipient use their imagination.
Well, if you were Ivanka Trump, I’d say it’s a tree, but I’d rather think of it as a Santa hat!
Beautiful cards!
When I saw Simon Says Stamp I was hoping this would be a card from Shari. Shari has a style of her own and I love it . . . this is the more modern card I’ve been looking for to send to the 40 somethings in our life.
Sweet, simple tree!
Beautiful ideas for Christmas cards. Love them! Thanks.
OMWord! This is so fabulous – that pop of red is perfect. I will be CASEing yet another of your cards :)
To answer your question, I would say it was a Santa hat due to its color and the pom pom at the top because Christmas trees generally are green and usually have a star or anything other than a pom pom for a topper. But on the other hand, the clear droplets read as ornaments. Drops like that are not usually on Santa hats but would be on Christmas trees. So I guess the answer is it can be whatever the viewer wants it to be! Regardless of what it is, the card is a great, graphic design.
Love it!
Such a cute, clean and simple card!
