Altenew Crafty Friends Blog Hop Day 1 with Shari Carroll

Altenew, Blog Hop

Welcome to the Altenew Crafty Friends Blog Hop!!! If you’re coming from Laura Jane‘s blog, you’re in the right place. We are celebrating our unique stamping community by sharing projects inspired by what we love, stamping and crafting!!

Right now, I’m inspired to make Christmas cards. I thought it would be fun to use some non-holiday stamps to create my card. I used the Altenew Watercolor Dots and Holiday Script Words to create a clean and simple look.

I stamped the star images first and silver embossed them. Next, I stamped the dots in white to finish off my quick background. I cut a triangle from red cardstock and mounted it to the card with a silver circle at the top. I used the “Believe” die from the Holiday Script Words die set from Silver Silk Tonic paper mounted to a strip of Slate cardstock. Pretty easy peasy!!!

  1. I think this is sooo cute!! When I first saw it, I thought it could be either a tree or Santa’s hat – so I see both! lol

  2. This is so cute and I think it would be a great card idea for my teenage grandson. I know you kept calling it a tree, but with the believe sentiment and if you believe in Santa, it could be a Santa hat!

  3. I love the simplicity & elegance of this card. Whether you want to call it a tree or Santa’s hat, it’s the perfect card to use when sending out festive holiday cards.

  4. I absolutely LOVE the silver monochrome with the pop of red! Beautiful and clean. Love it! Thanks for the inspiration – every day!!

  5. I believe it is a tree – there are stars and snowflakes on the backing – that is my story and I am sticking to it. Love the clean look of this card.

  6. I love the simplicity of this beauty. I think it looks much like a gnome’s hat. I have seen so many cute ones this holiday season. First and foremost I see Happy Holidays…..

  7. I definitely thought this was a tree when I first saw the email! So cute and so fun! Love this inspiration and can’t wait to try something similar with items from my stash! Thanks!

  8. My first thought is that it’s a tree because of the starry background, but I can definitely see where it could be a hat also. Just let the recipient use their imagination.

  9. When I saw Simon Says Stamp I was hoping this would be a card from Shari. Shari has a style of her own and I love it . . . this is the more modern card I’ve been looking for to send to the 40 somethings in our life.

  10. To answer your question, I would say it was a Santa hat due to its color and the pom pom at the top because Christmas trees generally are green and usually have a star or anything other than a pom pom for a topper. But on the other hand, the clear droplets read as ornaments. Drops like that are not usually on Santa hats but would be on Christmas trees. So I guess the answer is it can be whatever the viewer wants it to be! Regardless of what it is, the card is a great, graphic design.
    Love it!
