Ahhhhh. Vacation!

Hi readers! Happy Wednesday! I couldn’t think of anything better to get us all through the ‘hump’ of the work week than some creative uses of Simon Says Stamp exclusives from the amazing & creative Debby Hughes!

Enjoy!

Hi there, it’s Debby here with a look at getting the most out of your supplies :D I had just returned from our family vacation when I broke into the new This is The Life release to make these cards and was heavily inspired by our holiday! Our last stop before flying home was a few days in the Florida Keys and as I flipped through the release (with a massive smile on my face I might add!) I spotted the paw print from the Pawprints On Our Hearts set. Hmmmm, those paw prints reminded me of little islands with the dotted line being a contour line! I stamped the paw print a couple of times in Green Apple ink on Neenah solar white card and trimmed out before running the cut edge along the ink pad to give a nice definition to each island – so great to get a totally different use out of this sympathy set.

The sea was created by inking a Neenah panel with Sea Glass ink using a Mini Ink Blending Tool and also adding a darker area where the islands were to rest in Audrey Blue ink; lots of soft gentle build up of the ink with plenty of blending :D The islands were then glued in place before stamping the compass from Life’s Journey in Smoke ink on the top left of the panel. I also stamped in Versamark on Vellum the Enjoy The Journey sentiment from the same set and white heat embossed it.

I have long hankered after a word die which would leave a great modern negative space and the Vacation Word Strips are just perfect! Great for scrapbooking but look equally cool on a card :D There are three words in the set and I cut the ‘vacation’ one from Slate card and mounted it over the vellum then added a few sequins to finish.

While I was in holiday mood I browsed through the release again and this time the popular and totally fabulous Waves stencil caught my attention. With the waves stenciled in tones of blue horizontally you get an awesome watery pattern …. with the waves stenciled in black vertically you get great Zebra stripes! To combine with my safari theme I went for an inked African sunset (Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks) a gold heat embossed heart and a couple of wood veneer stars. From a watery stencil to a dry, sunset safari in a quick 90-degree turn and switch out of ink colour!

Well, that’s me for this month; I hope you enjoyed this little look at stretching your supplies. Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for reading today and thanks so much to Debby for being our guest! My mind is still blown from her idea to use paw prints to make an island map! Wow!
