Funny Friday with Art Impressions: Born To Ride
Welcome everyone to our latest edition of Funny Friday! Each month we showcase a new Art Impressions set to make you smile. Today I’m using the hilarious Born To Ride set. This gal in the sidecar is probably one of my favorites.
I’m loving the new slimline cards and thought it would be fun to create a faux road for these cheerful riders.

I started out by stamping the comical characters using Simon’s Intense Black Ink onto 80lb Neenah cardstock. I colored them using Copics and followed the color scheme from the packaging. Once they were colored, I fussy cut them leaving a small border.

I cut a panel of Soft Navy cardstock just smaller than the slimline card, then cut a wonky piece of black cardstock to simulate a blacktop road. I dry brushed (no water) it with Hickory Smoke Distress paint to add a faded centerline. I also stamped tire treads to show the route our little lady took in her sidecar.

I mounted the more experienced rider with a bit of foam tape, and Gramma… well she’s mounted using a Mini Action Wobbler for added fun.
To finish this card off, I cut some of the Reverse Happy sentiment strips for my messages.
I hope you have been inspired by this cheerful card. Happy Friday!!!

Throwback Thursday – Fabulous Projects You Might Have Missed!
Welcome to another edition of Throwback Thursday—a trip back in time! For each throwback, we’ll be spotlighting fantastic cards and projects using products from previous releases. The new stuff is always SO fun, but think about all of those great products you’ve collected and set aside. They are STILL AWESOME! And we want to inspire you with fantastic inspiration from our creative archives.
A new exclusive Simon brand release is headed your way in early August, but today we’d like to take a look back at a couple of collections that made an appearance last summer. You might remember some pretty spectacular products from our Rest & Refresh and Believe In You releases. Below you’ll find four inspiring cards created with goodies from these fantastic product collections from Simon Says Stamp!
First off is this fresh coastal design by Amanda Korotkova:

The Your Light stamp set made its debut with the Rest & Refresh release, and it features lovely sailing and lighthouse images perfect for summer cards. Amanda made it shine with gorgeous color added with Polychromos colored pencils. This set is also fantastic for masculine cards. You can see this card by Amanda on her blog HERE.

And let’s not forget this oceanic delight designed by Marge Yoon:

The Believe in You release included lots of summer-themed items. Marge created this fresh and aquatic design with the Never Quit Swimming and Clean Line Everyday stamp sets from this release. The Pebbles die looks so amazing paired with these two sets! You can see Marge’s original post on her blog HERE (and another pretty card, too!).
