Mixed Media with Shari Carroll: Limited Edition

Welcome, everyone, and happy Sunday! I’ve made another framed piece for my house, this time, something clean and simple with soft tones of blue.

I’m all about texture so I started out with a Dina Wakely Canvas board and cut it down to the size I wanted. I added swipes of Gesso and Tim Holtz Crackle paste. This gave me canvas cloth, smooth, and crackle.
I watered down some Speckled Egg Distress paint to highlight the crackle and get into the texture of the canvas.

I die-cut the Leafy Branch 4 times and stacked them up. Then I used torn paper to add to the back of the stack. I put a strip of Mummy Cloth on the canvas and glued the branch in place. I put the canvas in an 8×10″ frame with a 5×7″ mat board.

I hope I’ve sparked some inspiration for you to create something for your home. Enjoy!

Funny Friday with Art Impressions: Born To Ride
Welcome everyone to our latest edition of Funny Friday! Each month we showcase a new Art Impressions set to make you smile. Today I’m using the hilarious Born To Ride set. This gal in the sidecar is probably one of my favorites.
I’m loving the new slimline cards and thought it would be fun to create a faux road for these cheerful riders.

I started out by stamping the comical characters using Simon’s Intense Black Ink onto 80lb Neenah cardstock. I colored them using Copics and followed the color scheme from the packaging. Once they were colored, I fussy cut them leaving a small border.

I cut a panel of Soft Navy cardstock just smaller than the slimline card, then cut a wonky piece of black cardstock to simulate a blacktop road. I dry brushed (no water) it with Hickory Smoke Distress paint to add a faded centerline. I also stamped tire treads to show the route our little lady took in her sidecar.

I mounted the more experienced rider with a bit of foam tape, and Gramma… well she’s mounted using a Mini Action Wobbler for added fun.
To finish this card off, I cut some of the Reverse Happy sentiment strips for my messages.
I hope you have been inspired by this cheerful card. Happy Friday!!!
