Ink Blended & Stamped Cardstock Strips with Kristina Werner

Hi all! Kristina Werner here. Today I have a fun card made using lots of strips of cardstock and ink blending!

I was inspired by the Printmaking Florals Background stamp, which actually breaks apart into separate rows. I thought it would be fun to stamp the background and cut apart the cardstock for ink blending.

I used six colors of Simon ink for the ink blending: Merlot, Mandarin, Sunbeam, Pearfection, Soft Navy, and Dark Chocolate.

The greeting for the card is from the XL Greetings 3 stamp set, which I gold heat embossed and cut out a circle die.

Enjoy!

Crafty with Caly: Reverse Confetti Hummingbirds

Hi friends! Happy Tuesday! Please join me in welcoming back special guest Caly Person in the latest edition of Crafty with Caly showcasing this bright and pretty card design showcasing Reverse Confetti! Be sure to watch the video for more details and enjoy!

Hi, Friends! I’m sharing a Hummingbird card today featuring a beautiful set from Reverse Confetti.  I paired the Hummingbird set with the Circle of Waves die to make a colorful card.  I know winter is upon us (Game of Thrones reference), but I love colorful, happy cards year-round!

I made a video showing my process and hope you enjoy watching!

WATCH THE VIDEO:

To create my card, I stamped and colored the Hummingbird images with Copic markers.

  • Pinks:  RV21, RV23, RV25, RV29
  • Oranges/Yellows:  Y11, YR31, YR65
  • Green:  YG09
  • Teals:  BG110, BG11, BG34
  • Blues:  B02, B05
  • Purples:  V000, V01, V05, V09
  • Grays:  W2, W5, W7

For the background, I used Simon Says Stamp Cardstock in Green Apple, Lemon Chiffon, Banana, Cotton Candy, and Doll Pink to die-cut the Circle of Waves die.  I simply used desk tape to hold the pieces together.  Tip:  Use your die to in-lay the pieces to make sure they line up before taping together.  I adhered this circle panel over a piece of Ivory cardstock using foam adhesive to give it dimension.

I finished by creating a floral spray, framing the shape of the circle die and adhered my hummingbirds.  I embossed my sentiment and fussy cut around the letters for a tighter sentiment outline.

I hope you enjoyed this card!  Thanks so much for visiting today! ~Caly

Doodling with Debby: An exclusive product review!

Hi friends, happy Monday! I’m delighted to share these gorgeous NEW product highlights from the one and only Debby Hughes! Read on and enjoy!

Hello, it’s Debby here. We had such a lot of fun in STAMPtember. So many new stamps and dies, but amongst all those were new and exciting essential supplies released under the Simon umbrella.

I have many photos to share because I went to town trying to capture all the new products. So I’m going to highlight a few of the more recent releases starting with the new inks.

NEW SIMON SAYS STAMP INKS

The five new trios of Simon inks work fabulously together. A year in the making, these inks have every attention to detail from the colours to the formula to the fabric pad to the labels with the colour printed on the side.

“This is a set of 15 versatile dye ink pads that can be used for a wide variety of techniques and blended together perfectly.

This saturated dye ink has a raised surface for inking any size stamp and is a durable foam pad for transferring just the right amount of ink.

It’s a quick-drying, water reactive ink for saving time, but also able to be used in watercoloring.

Acid free and fade resistant.”

Working from left to right:

  • Reds – Pucker, Blush and Cheeky
  • Oranges – Mandarin, Grapefruit and Peachy
  • Yellows – Citrine, Sunbeam and Lemonade
  • Greens – Pearfection, Limelicious, Celery
  • Blues – Ocean, Surf, Seafoam

You know me, Greens and Blues are always a favourite, and the labels on the side make storing and organising them a breeze.

I found an acrylic container in my stash, and look at that, a perfect fit for the new 15 inks!

This image is the perfect transition to my next group of products – blender brushes. The blender brushes are an excellent match for the new ink colours. Especially this Sunbeam ink pad, it couldn’t have been a closer match to the yellow blending brushes.

SIMON SAYS STAMP BLENDING BRUSHES

The blending brushes are available as a complete set of both large and small sizes …

… or a large set on their own …

… small set on their own or equally individual brushes.

The bristles are as smooth as a baby’s bottom, as the phrase goes! Each brush is made with premium, soft bristle hair that holds a lot of ink and blends over even the most delicate stencils with care and ease.

Much thought went into the design of these blending brushes – the signature paw print with a heart on the back of each bristle head and the range of colour options with ten brushes in the sets to choose from.

Also, note the little brush caps for keeping your bristles protected and any ink randomly getting onto your work (don’t ask how I know!).

ADHESIVES

Joining the Simon adhesives team is red line tape in both ¼ and ⅛ inch widths. Paired with the dot runner and glue stick, they fulfil every sticky situation!

PET PAWSITIVELY EVERYTHING TOOL

The PET, or Pawsitively Everything Tool, is one of those inventions that you never knew how you lived without! Similar to when the Misti came along and changed stamping forever, the PET is a design marvel.

“Cleaning blending, paint, or other craft brushes (just add water!)

Place hot tools such as heat or glue guns on top – the heat-safe surface can handle it all

The grippy texture is perfect for opening stubborn jars

Its non-skid surface means that ink pads, pots, and more do not move when placed on top, leaving your hands free to keep on crafting!

You can even use it as a coaster for wet tools, wipes, or even your drinks!

You’re going to find so many ways to use this tool during all of your crafty sessions because it can literally do pawsitively EVERYTHING!”

Well, that’s me for today. I hope you enjoyed this look at the new supplies and tools that aren’t stamps and dies. They are the backbone that supports our cardmaking. Thanks for joining me, and I hope to see you next time for Doodling With Debby.
